Default a little asphalt oval track help please

super stock asphalt oval car ideal
93-02 camaro v6 cause there cheap with a sbc conversion
i know most rules can be work with my main concerns are
ground clearance
roof height
width
everything else should fit in the rules
has this been done before???
if so i wanna see pics

this is mostly what is in the class as off now


would just build a monte carlo and race in the street stock class but then i have to race my ex gf and that would make things a little to competitive

STOCK refers to stock manufactures' equipment for the car you are building. STOCK refers to parts made by GM, FORD, CHRYSLER, ETC. It does not refer to after market speed part or parts varying from stock dimensions. STOCK means a factory ID number must be in place. STOCK means original equipment parts for your car.
ELIGIBLE MODELS
Any 1970-2004 American make with a minimum wheelbase of 105 inches if it was from the factory. This means that all frames must retain the same wheelbase as from OEM Manufactured.
WEIGHT
3100 pounds with the driver before and after the race. Driver may add fluids (fuel, water, oil) after the race to make weight.
55% maximum left side weight with driver before and after the race.
All weight must be bolted in, painted white with the car number on it.
Any car completing laps with dislodged or lost weight during the race may not add this weight back to make weight requirements after the race.
DETAILED ENGINE REQUIREMENTS FOR BUILT ENGINE
GM
350 cubic inches
GM cast 45 pounds minimum.
After market steel I-beam rods with thru bolts and cap screw permitted.
GM Rods must not exceed 6.0 inches.
FORD
351 cubic inches
Ford cast 54 pounds minimum.
After market steel I-beam rods with thru bolts and cap screws permitted.
CHRYSLER
360 cubic inches
Chrysler cast 54 pounds minimum.
After market steel I-beam rods with thru bolts and cap screws permitted.
COMMON ENGINE REQUIREMENT RULES FOR BUILT ENGINE.
Maximum overbore of .060 with .010 tolerance permitted.
Engine location #1 spark plug in line with upper ball joint.
Solid motor mounts permitted.
Stock standard production blocks only.
Crankshaft
Only standard steel or cast iron crankshafts permitted.
Stroke must be stock for the make of engine.
No stroke cranks.
No polishing or knife edging of counter weights.
Stock stroke.
Steel 50 pounds minimum.
No fluid dampers. Stock type balancers only.
Pistons
Flat top pistons only.
Cast or forged.
Double eyebrow allowed.
Piston must not exceed top of block.
Floating wrist pins permitted.
3-ring piston only.
H- beam rods allowed. No hollow rods allowed.
Polishing and shot peening is permitted.
.475 maximum lift solid camshaft measured at the retainer (as it was raced).
Solid or hydraulic lifters permitted.

No modifications such as stroking, polishing, grinding, or porting of engine parts permitted.
Steel racing oil pans permitted.
No dry sump or accu-sump systems permitted.
CYLINDER HEADS
Stock production heads only. No Vortec or aluminum heads will be permitted. Officials must approve Ford and Chrysler heads. Minimum 62cc steel heads.
No modifications such as porting, polishing, or porting matching will be permitted.
GM Valve size.
2.020 maximum intake.
1.600 maximum exhaust.
Ford Valve size.
2.046 maximum intake.
1.625 maximum exhaust.
Chrysler Valve size.
2.020 maximum intake.
1.625 maximum exhaust.
Chrysler # 4529994 is permitted on Chrysler.
Screw in studs and guide plates are permitted.
After market valves must be the same shape and size as factory.
No undercut valves. May run stock type stainless steel valves.
Swirl polish valves permitted.
No angle plug heads permitted.
Poly-locks permitted on rocker arm studs.
Racing valve job permitted.
No blending of valve job into head casting.
No angle heads cuts permitted. All heads must be flat cut.

Heads may be surfaced.
No necked down valves permitted. Maximum undercut .010 inch.
Oversize valve stems permitted.
Stock, long slot, or roller rockers are permitted.
Stud griddles are permitted.
OPTIONAL ENGINE B- ZZ4 CRATE ENGINE
Racing oil pan is permitted, as per Late Model guidelines.
Carburetor.
Holley 500 CFM 80583-1 or 4412. Per Late Model guidelines.
No other modifications or changes to engines.
No carb spacer - must use 1 - .060 gasket.
BODIES
Must maintain a minimum roof height of 48 inches. No bowing of the center of the roof to meet requirements. Measured 10 inches back from the center of the windshield.
Rubber noses, tailpieces, and fiberglass hoods permitted.
Bodies must be stock appearing and made of steel.
Doors must be securely fastened. No flat-sided doors.
Nose must have a minimum of 5 inches ground clearance.
No rubber skirting on the body except to cover up rust and must not extend below the body.
All bodies must be closed solid in the rear.
No extra material can be added to quarter panels, doors, fenders, etc.
Original firewall must be used but may be moved for engine location.
Rear view mirror permitted inside of car only.
No tunnels in interior.
Windshield and back glass.
1/16" Lexan required.
No glass will be permitted.
Windshield and back glass mandatory.
No side windows.
9" high vent window optional.
Stock appearing after market nosepieces permitted.
Maximum quarter panel height of 341/2" with driver on after market bodies.
After market bodies of steel only permitted but must match chassis and type of engine. Body parts can also be fabricated from 22-gage steel but must be stock appearing and approved by Newport Officials.
FRAMES
No shortening or altering in any way.
Frame rails must be stock for make, model and year.
No interchanging of frames.
Stock bottom A-frames and mounts. Stock type or tubular top A-frames permitted. Top and bottom A-frames may be shortened or lengthened.
Lower A-arms must mount in stock location and mounts cannot be moved forward or back on frame.
Weight jacks permitted on front and rear.
Minimum ground clearance 4" measured at the frame/sub frame.
Solid engine and transmission mounts permitted.
"X" may be added between frame rails for driver protection.
Spring buckets may be used but they must meet all stock measurements in dimension and location.
Approved sub frame connectors permitted.
Metric frames can replace rusted rear frames with 2" X 3" steel tubing frame a minimum of 10" behind the centerline of the rear end housing of the rear of the frame. This must conform somewhat to stock location if reference to frame height and length. Front horns only may also be replaced. No "points" of frame may be replaced with tubing.
On uni-bodied car, any damaged front or rear frame rail must be replaced as a whole section for that side or both sides. No welding or partial sections of frame allowed to be put back when damaged.
WHEELBASE AND TREAD WIDTH
Wheelbase must be stock from the factory and match type frame used (e.g. metric chassis must be 108") with a 1/2 tolerance on either side.
64 1/2" maximum tread width.
Maximum of 1/2" one-piece aluminum or steel wheel spacers allowed.
TIRES
Only track approved tires permitted.
Tires may not be treated in any form.
Officials can use any means possible to detect tire-soaking agents. Their decision is final.
WHEELS
10" steel wheels any offsets, but they must be within 1" of each other on all 4 corners.
COOLING SYSTEMS
Aluminum radiators permitted.
All cars must have catch can overflow hose that exits at the windshield.
Electric fans are permitted.
Radiators must be stock appearing and installed in front of the engine.
Newport Officials must approve all radiator ductwork.
SHOCKS
One racing shock per wheel.
Adjustable shock permitted. Must have to be removed from the car to be adjusted.
STEERING
All cars must be equipped with steel steering shaft.
Tire rods, drag links and components must be heavy duty and magnetic steel.
Heim joints are permitted on the spindle end to the tie rod end.
Interchangeable pitman's are permitted.
A quick release metal coupling acceptable to officials on steering wheel is mandatory. The use of universal joints and collapsible steering section must be acceptable to Officials.
Rack and pinion steering is not permitted.
Steering boxes must be mounted in stock location.
BRAKES
Front and rear disc brakes are permitted.
Proportioning valves permitted outside of drivers' compartment. Double master cylinders permitted.
After market brake pedals permitted.
Stock type, singles piston calipers permitted on the front and rear.
No wide 5 hubs permitted.
No carbon fiber brakes or brake related parts.
Approved aluminum hubs are permitted.
SPOILERS
Homemade spoilers may not be over 5" high and must not exceed the width of the deck lid.
Spoiler must be mounted on the rear of the deck lid.
After market spoilers permitted on front bumper with a 5 inch minimum ground clearance.
BUMPERS
Bumpers must be stock appearing for make and model.
No homemade bumpers permitted.
No bracing is allowed.
Must have non-braced hook on front and rear bumpers for the wrecker to lift by.
ROLL CAGE
4-point roll cage with curved door bars is required.
Roll bars must be welded and made of at least .090" roll bar tubing.
All cages will be inspected and must be approved by Officials.
Any roll cage showing poor workmanship will not be allowed to compete.
It is highly recommended to have the driver's door plated in between the door bars.
TRANSMISSION
Must run standard three or four speed manual transmission with all gears to include reverse in working order from cockpit of the car.
Automatic transmissions are not permitted.
No after market transmissions permitted.
REAR END
Stock type or equivalent to 9" Ford permitted in Chevrolet.
Rear may be locked.
Floating rear ends permitted.
No aluminum components except hubs and drive plates.
Rear end hook up must remain in stock location from factory.
Ford and Chrysler rear ends permitted in Chevrolet.
Bolt patterns: 5"x 41/2", 5"x 43/4", 5"x 5", 5" x 51/2".
No cambered rear ends permitted.
After market trailing arms permitted. Must use stock mounts on frame side after market mounts are permitted on the rear end.
Heim joints are permitted on trailing arms.
Newport approved third link and non-adjustable pan bar allowed on coil springs.
No truck arms or coilovers allowed.
SPINDLES
Stock heavy-duty spindles permitted.
Heavy-duty ball joints permitted to match A-frame.
Heavy-duty steering rods permitted.
Air craft quality heim joints are permitted at the spindle end to the tie rod.
Safety spindles are permitted.
3/4 ton spindles are permitted.
Approved homemade spindles permitted.
All spindles must be made of magnetic steel.
Adjustable front sway bars permitted.
SPRINGS
Racing coil springs permitted.
Stock replacement leaf springs permitted on rear to match the body. Must have factory type mounts on front and rear. May use adjustable shackles.
No angling of rear leaf springs. Springs must be mounted parallel to each other within factory specs.
Racing coil springs must not be less than 5" o.d. and be mounted on top or rear end housing.
FUEL AND FUEL SYSTEM
Track fuel only. Sunoco Purple.
No alcohol or nitro methane additives permitted.
Must check consistent with track fuel approved fuel checking device.
No nitrous oxide.
Cooling of fuel is not permitted.
All fuel cells must be vented high and to the left side of car.
Fuel cells mandatory. Maximum capacity is 22 gallons and minimum ground clearance of 9".
Fuel cells with right side filler is not permitted.
No electric fuel pumps permitted.
A fuel cell protector bar must be installed at the rear of the frame.
All fuel cell cans must be made of steel.
Fuel cells must be mounted equal distance between frame rails.

INTAKES
Only the following Eldebrock intake manifolds are permitted:
GM # 2101
Ford:
# 2665 with 4bbl heads.
# 2750 with 2bbl heads.
# 2181 with Windsor heads.
Chrysler # 2920 (Mopar # p4529408) with w-2 heads.
No polishing, porting, or squaring of ports permitted.
Officials must approve all intake manifolds.
CARBURETOR
Only Holley replacement parts can be used on any carburetor rework. See below for rework guidelines.
No polishing, grinding or drilling of holes permitted in the body of the carburetor. Maximum size for the air bleed holes in the top of the carburetor will be .080" for all four holes. Screw in air bleeds will not be permitted.
Choke horn may not be removed or altered.
Boosters may be changed. Height and location of booster must remain as manufactured. All boosters must maintain a minimum outside diameter of 0.616".
. Venturi area must not be altered in any manner. Casting ring must not be removed. Alterations that in judgment of officials were made to allow additional air to be picked up below the openings in the venturi such as altered gaskets, base plates and drilling holes in the carburetor will not be permitted.
Base plate must not be altered in shape or size.
Stock butterflies must not be thinned or tapered. Idle holes may be drilled in butterflies. Screw ends may be cut even with shafts but screw heads must remain standard.
Throttle shafts must remain standard and must not be thinned or cut in any manner.
Accelerator pump discharge nozzle may not be changed.
Power valves, metering blocks and floats may be altered. Milling of metering blocks are not permitted.
Any attempt to pull outside air other than throughout the venturi is not permitted.
. All carbs will be checked with USAR approved gauges.
AIR CLEANER
No tubes, funnels or anything, which may control the flow of air, are permitted inside the air cleaner or between the air cleaner and the carburetor.
Cowl air induction is not permitted.
Cold air boxes are not permitted.
Air cleaners cannot be removed during competition. Only round air cleaner element minimum of 12" -maximum 17" in diameter will be permitted. An approved paper element minimum of 11/2" -maximum 4" high, must be used in air cleaner at all times. Air must be filtered through element. Top of air cleaner must be solid, no holes. No shields of any type will be permitted. Only a one-inch lip will be permitted from the edge of the top and bottom of the air cleaner to the edge of the element. Maximum of 1/2" adapter permitted on the bottom of the air cleaner.
Base of air cleaner cannot extend higher than choke horn.
CARBURETOR SPACER AND GASKET
Only one-piece solid aluminum spacer, 3/4" in thickness, must be installed between intake manifold and carburetor.
The spacer must have two holes with 11/2" openings that match the base of the carburetor. Holes must be centered and cut perpendicular with the base of the carburetor. No tapers or bevels permitted.
Spacer must be centered on intake manifolds.
No adjustable spacers permitted.
No other modifications permitted.
IGNITION AND ELECTRICAL
Transistor ignition permitted on all models.
Brass gear permitted on distributor.
Dual point distributor permitted.
After market distributors permitted.
Racing coils permitted.
Ignition boosters permitted.
Alternators permitted.
Car must start under its own power.
After market starters will be permitted.
Only one 12-volt battery permitted.
No traction control device of any type permitted.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
Single flange, "over the counter" tube headers permitted, 13/4" x 30" max, diameter. No wrap around or 180 degree headers permitted.
OEM stock cast iron manifold permitted.
After market exhaust manifolds permitted.
Exhaust must exit from underneath the car past the driver.
No flex pipe permitted.
No device to reduce the interior of exhaust pipe will be permitted.
No cone down merges collectors.
FLYWHEEL ASSEMBLY
Stock OEM type steel clutch and pressure plate permitted.
OEM or after market clutch assembly with a minimum diameter of 10.4" is allowed.
All flywheels must weigh a minimum of 14.5 pounds and be made of steel.
SAFETY
Seat belts and harness.
A quick release belt no less than 3" wide is compulsory. Shoulder harness and additional V-type seat belt compulsory. Shoulder harness must be no less than 3" in width. Shoulder harness inertia reels cannot be used.
Both ends must be fastened to the roll bar cage with aircraft quality bolts, not less than 3/8" in diameter.
A steel plate may be welded to roll bar cage on right side of the driver so the belt can be brought down in such a manner that it will keep the driver from sliding from side to side under the belt.
The seat belt must come from behind the driver.
Fire Control
Race cars must have an approved fire extinguisher securely mounted within reach of the driver. This extinguisher must be mounted on an approved mounting bracket (no extinguisher may be taped to roll bars) or mounted in the door area.
It is recommended that each car have a built in fire extinguisher equipment, but it cannot be a dry powder type (must be 1301 halon or equivalent). All entrants should have in their pits, at all times, a fully charged fifteen (15) pound capacity dry powder fire extinguisher or its equivalent showing a current inspection certificate.
It is mandatory that at all times drivers wear driving suits of a fire resistance material that effectively covers the body. It is highly recommended that the driver wears socks, and underwear made of a fire resistant material. It is mandatory drivers wear fire resistant gloves.
