Default Power steering pump ?

Does anyone recognize these? And if so do you know what difference they make when used in the same pump? One is out of a ls1 style pump.

I would guess they make a difference on pressure or flow rate or both. Without knowing the source of these, it's hard to make an educated guess.

You hear people with 4th gens say that they send their pumps in and have them "revalved" for track use. The top one is a stock valve out of a 4th gen. I guess I was wondering if anyone has done that, and if so do they know what the "revalved" one looks like? The bottom one is a third gen valve.

Default 70 Camaro with ps and 12:1

My 70 Camaro received a 12:1 steering gear and a modified pump. The pump received a 35 lb. valve for a stiff road feel. The pump pressure was increased to handle the new gearing. I was supplied a ps fluid filter for the return hose.

After the install I was very happy. The valving was perfect for auto cross. It was stiff for road feel with enough assist for one to shift in the turns and handle the wheel feedback one-handed.

I had a 67 Camaro with manual steering and it was great until you got into tight esses with a shift point. I found myself timing the shift so I could manage the wheel in the turns and shift only when going straight. At that point I realized power steering was not so bad after all as long as the pump is setup for the high revs and got the proper valving.

The company was very helpful and knowledgeable. They are Lee Manufacturing in Sun Valley, CA. http://lee-powersteering.com/pumps.htm
