Track testing my new car
Went to the track for some practice, and work out some bugs. Still needs some work to get the bugs out, but it's very fast with a mild LS1/6.
Only one engine issue - oil spewing out of the left rear valve cover breather. Made a huge mess everythwere. I'll have to install a air/oil separator (not a catch can) and a remote breather. Shouldn't be too difficult to put something together.

No video yet. I have an older GoPro that I might set up just for fun. It doesn't integrate directly with the MXL, though, so it would just be raw video. If I want to make a real track video, I'd need to use something like RaceRender.
I don't think the lack of fenders is going to be an issue. At one time, NASA specifically prohibited fenderless cars in HPDE. But I was reading through the rule back yesterday looking for that, and couldn't find it.
But I race in TTU, and there has not been a restriction in Time Trials. I have some fenders that I might try to install at some point.

Are you running a breather in addition to the PCV system?

I found a good article on swapping over to the LS6 valley cover (which I did during assembly) and what to do with those "extra" lines. I'll change that this week end.
Eventually I'll make a catch can for it, too. Probably doesn't really need it, but I'll get around to doing it anyway.
For my first attempt at an LS1, I think it's going well. I'v made some mistakes along the way. But they're all small, annoying, and easily fixed.

A LS-powered EXOCET -- well done Bob! That should provide many days of enjoyment.
If you don't mind my asking, what tire are you running?
We see a fair number of these around here (they're based in Atlanta) at car/track events and they look like a blast. I missed my chance to take one for a spin last year at a track event they sponsored.

I bought them last year, but didn't get the car ready in time to use them. I'v used this tire before with pretty good results. They stick well after a few laps to warm them up, but fall off rather fast; like 20-25 heat cycles. Heat cycles are 20 minutes of high speeds laps. I can usually get a whole season out of them.
When these wear out, I'll probably go to a Hoosier A7 - an autocross tire.
The problem with a light weight car like this is that it's hard to get heat into the tire. They rarely get hot enough to get really sticky - but they last a long time. The autocross tires are sticky almost on lap one, but don't quite last the entire season. They'll start to fall off in 15-20 heat cycles.

Very cool Bob. Must be an exciting ride that keeps the driver busy.
I know the car is built for TT, but I would heavily consider a containment seat. With the seating position that close to the cage in an open car, I would want everything possible to help keep your upper body inside the car. At the very least a seat with some shoulder support.
Those autocross compound Hoosiers are definitely the hot ticket for TT use, especially in a featherweight car like yours. Cool build, would love to drive something like that compared to my heavy pig.

Looked at a containment seat. But the car is so small, it doesn't fit. Those are Spec Miata seats, and they're tight.
I'v been racing an open car for 10 years. I use an Isaac head and neck restraint system, 5 point harness, and arm restraints. I'm considering window nets, but haven't decided yet.

Sweet trailer tent, as well. That's pretty clever.

The trailer comes from www.SerpentExpress.com Larry Johnson designed them. The only thing I don't like is how it slopes down in the back. If I ever replace the cover, I'll change that.
