I found this on an Evo board. They are talking about the handleing of the F-bodies. The few Ive been in have handled better than the 1 Evo and various Raliarts.

All I know is I have hade experience on the track with stock ss's and stock c5's and zo6's at driving school. My team did the vetts first. Was outrageous - at moroso in fla. Then did the ss's was also grate BUT, coming out of the corners you could feel them pulling for the wall.
(and there was a big smudge mark where a viper hit on the last turn into the straight) Was similar power feel so you kinda felt like you could go as fast as a vett coming out under hard acceleration, but you had to lift a little to let the front end come around where with the vettes it was easer to get on the gas and still steer for the straight. camaros need to loose some weight. I think that’s my next goal to drop some pounds off mine. Just got new rims ant tires, have a 1" drop and some suspension goodies and plenty of power.
Would love to loose 400lbs of the car some how.

Didn't read the whole link, but it seemed pretty fair to me.

The Fbody (in fact most American muscle/pony cars) are all over weight with unsophisticated suspension and often antique platforms (Mustang sn95) and often badly setup. Either too soft and wobbly or far too stiff (alla C4 Corvette).

The Evo's are lighter, stiffer with more sophisticated suspension and designed and setup to go round corners rather than 1/4 mile sprints.

The news that the Evo 'handles' better is no more susprising than hearing that Doris Day lost a first fight to Mike Tyson.

All things aside though, the Fbody's handle pretty good, they may not have the most grip. But grip and handling are two different things entirly. And what the Fbody's and Mustang lack in handling refinment they more than make up for with GRUNT and often better styling.

Even supposidly great handling cars like the new BMW M5 can't overcome the excess weight of the car.

If you want real handling then you need to look at cars like these:

With only 260bhp it will keep pace with Formula 3 cars at track days. And a Formula 3 car would wipe the floor with any Evo out there.

My car has that stuff, plus a 300 lb weight reduction and front and rear race wheel alignment. It handles damn good, but still not quite as good as my bro-in-laws Evo, especailly on a bumpy or wet surface. But you more than make up for it on the straights. I outrun an Evo on the freeway three times a couple weeks ago. The first time he topped out at 140 mph, up an incline. I passed him going 150 mph, up the same incline, in 6th gear and still accelerating!

Subframe connectors dont actually improve handling as they increase the life of the chassis by reducing flex. I had a 92 B4C/1LE Camaro that was driven had by cops, and then auto-xed in F stock for 10 years, and at the corners of the doors, there were cracks starting to form on the roof.

Sticky tires + stock 3rd gen unibody = yeah for cracks!
