Which V710's?
I've got a set of twisties & a set of WS6 speedlines, not sure which one I want to use as my autox wheels. Looks like I can easily fit a 265/45/16 V710 on the twisties. I might be able to squeeze a 295/40/17 on the speedlines, a275/40/17 would fit for sure. Price difference between the 16 & 17 is $40. Is it worth is to use the twisties because the 16 would be a little bit lighter or do the 17's to fit the biggest thing I can?

265's fit on a 16x8, but it's not ideal. On the inside, about 1/4" of tire doesn't touch the ground, and the car feels a bit vague with the wider tire on an 8" rim.
A 275 on the 17's will be the most ideal setup, as far as tire width. I would recommend that setup. A 295 will fit, and will probably give the most grip, but it will be a little more vague with the wider tire on the 9" rim.
Also, I would not recommend using these for road course use. Yes, they work, and they are very good for a few laps, but they DO NOT like heat at all. A Nitto NT01 or Toyo R888 is a much better choice. For auto-x, V710's are perfect.

I would do what Mojave said, I have tried 295 on stock WS6 rims and they didn't work very well you are really ballooning the side wall as Kumho recomends a minimum of a 9.5" rim width. I only used them in the back and 275 in front. I would have hated them in the front.

It would also depend on IF you are running with an organization that has RULES for classes.
If it is an SCCA event, unless you have a WS6 (or convert EVERYTHING over to WS6, if you have a base Formula or Trans Am), you cannot run the 17s in the F/Stock class.

i have 265s on a set of 16x8 rims. i got the 16s just as spare race rims, and they were cheaper then another set of 17x9.5s. they do fit, but theyre not perfect, as was said. they balloon out alot, and id say there is more then 1/4 inch of the inside that doesnt touch. without going out and looking, id guess a half inch or even more of the tire is brand new, never touched the ground.

When you start to wear out the outside and the inside is pretty new, have your tire palce flip the tires on the rims. You get twice the life out of the tire. The hoosiers and kumhos are made to be flipped around after a while.

^^ Correction Kumho doesn't not recommend flipping their tires. With that said, that doesn't mean that your average low buck racer will not do it anyway, but it is not recommended and they warn against it.

I guess "warn" is to strong of a word. "Not recommended" is more like it. There are a couple theories around the interweb but no real data as to why. Here is a link to Tirerack's care and feeding document for V710. They don't talk specifically about the subject of flipping, just that "The ECSTA V710 tires feature an asymmetric tread design and "SIDE FACING OUTWARDS" and "SIDE FACING INWARDS" messages are branded on their sidewalls. New tires should always be installed accordingly".
Most people that have flipped the tires get more runs out of the tire with hardly any noticeable difference in performance. After all by the time the tires would need to be flipped the overall level of grip on the tire would have fallen also.

In autox, the V710's will most likely be heat cycled to death before the meat of the tires gets incredibly worn. At least my old ones did that.
Bluebird: Would be interested to see your list of mods that put you in CP. Was the car competitive in that class?

Flipping V710's is totally fine. I have auto-x'ed and tracked on flipped V710's, and I know lots of other people who do. It won't cause a problem. Having the grooves on the outside isn't ideal, but it will work.

With that it would have been closer to been competitive but my wife would had hated me and I would have wanted a tow setup and daily driver. So now that I sold the car I'm going to save for a tow vehicle and then start saving for a track only car.
