1968 Corvette conv. 6.0 LQ9, 6 speed, Vintage AC
I hate to do this, but looking at another project so one of the LS swaps has to go. Not enough space. Kicking around the idea of selling the 68 vette.
A running chrome bumper C3 starts at $15k, so what does an LS motor, OD trans, Vintage AC add to that?
I have all receipts and documents.
Oh yeah, ignore the dates on the pics, the camera was screwed up (there is no 13th month).
Car:
1968 corvette convertible. Paint has some chips, about 10 years old on the paint job, I would rate it about an 8 out of 10. Chrome is all good except for some pitting on the OEM 69 sidepipe cover. Interior has new carpet, dash pad, cloth seats. Less than 100k on the chassis.
Entire suspension gone through with new bushings, rod ends, ball joints, U joints, steering box, O ring brake calipers. 3.08 rear gone through with new axle stubs. Car is lowered about 1" on stock 68 rims.
Top is in good condition, rarely used, with some dry cracking of weather stripping.
Motor:
2002 LQ9, swapped in around 2006, about 80k total miles. DBW with 02 corvette LS1 intake, injectors, oil pan, exhaust manifolds. Runs perfect, sounds great through the "Sweet Thunder" sidepipes. Functional cowl induction fits in L88 hood.
Fuel system:
New C3 fuel tank with inline walbro 255lph efi pump, 02 corvette regulator.
Transmission:
Richmond 6 speed with correct C3 shifter/ball. Bought new at time of swap with 08-02 LS1 flywheel/clutch.
AC:
Vintage Air Perfect fit C3 kit with compressor/mount for LS motor.
Cooling:
Griffin aluminum radiator with LQ9 mechanical fan and accessory electric fan. Operated by AC trinary switch.
Electrical:
All new aftermarket harness made for efi motor. Not an LS motor harness grafted into the original C3 harness. Problematic 68 wiper door mechanism converted to electric, operated by original wiper switch.
I did this car right with the reliability and comfort of a daily driver. It looks exactly like a stock C3 corvette. I even changed the original tach from mechanical to electric so it would appear correct. All gauges look/work correctly. The only hint inside is the 6 speed console plate in place of the 4 speed Muncie plate and aftermarket stereo.
Externally, it has an L88 hood and is lowered about 1".

Wow, almost 100 views, no numbers?
Anyway, I figure a decent driver C3 convertible gets $15k. Vintage Air seems to be a plus (maybe + $1k?), same for an OD trans (+ $1k), suspension/brake rebuild (+ $1k), then the LS "bling" factor puts it a little over $20k.
And it really is fast and fun to drive......
Thoughts?

Yup. I'd be curious as well. I'm knee deep in an LS3 swap right now, and would like some ideas as to the increase in value. I know what I got in mine, and even doing the work myself, it's been a pricey build. Beautiful car bro!

I realize this thread is a few months old but I agree with the $20,000 assessment if the car runs and drives well. This seems to be the general 'show' price where these type cars trade and sell for.
