Default Advice on Selling my TA WS6

Hello Everybody,
Can anyone give me any advice on what would be a reasonable price for my 2000 TA WS6? It is in the classifieds. All stock.
I have been out of the market for a long time and figure that the people here would know.

I hate to be "that guy," but I think you're priced a bit high. My advice is to check out Cars.com and Autotrader.com to see what comparable cars are listed for. That will give you a better ballpark to price the car.

Nice car but like Z Fury says you are priced a bit high for that kind of mileage...

I agree with the others, the price is several thousand too high. It's also harder to sell convertibles since they aren't especially popular within the 4th gen F-body market.

Based on the year, transmission and roof type, it would have to be much lower mileage to get into that $15k+ range.

AGREED with above, unfortunately I personally think 14.5-15 and that may take some time, as said verts tend not to fetch the money, kinda crazy but it is what it is, most of the crazy deals are often verts, if you have time play it out,

As Ive said on here before, most of the time its not about the value of these cars, its about who is looking when and where, u may find that guy who bought one new popped out a cpl babies, had to sell, now hes in his midlife crisis and wants the exact car, that guy will pay more,

For what it's worth.
I paid 10,500 for my 01 WS6 vert last year with 70k on it. All stock and clean. From a midwest dealer.

I'd put yours up on Autotrader or Ebay. I think you'll have an easier time selling it there.

Over the past 2 years I've seen 2002 A4 verts in the 45K-55K mile range listed on autotrader.com in the $14.5K-$15.5K range. And since they were listed for quite a while, it wasn't like the price was a steal. The 2000 will be approx $1500-$2000 less. $13.0K to $14.5K is probably a realistic range. If someone offers $15K jump all over it.

Another data point. I had a 2001 NBM A4 vert with 12K two owner miles in my area. It was for sale for 3 years in the $19K range. It was also advertised nationally on carsonline.com for at least 2 years. It finally took dropping the price to $17.5K to get that sold. I had actually tried to buy the car from the guy in 2011 but he was stuck on $19K at the time. All he could say was that the car was worth $22K or more in 2007...and it probably was. But in 2011, $18K or a bit higher would have gotten it done for me. 2 years later I already had my car and that one sold for $17.5K-$18K. A good deal for someone. That car is probably still worth $18K today if mileage is the same.

I like the verts and value them more than a TTop. I would have no problem owning an A4 vert. Plenty of fun and easy cruising. Lowbird's 2001 Vert with 70K miles "on paper" is only worth about $500 less than a 2000 with 55K miles. $10,500 for a decent '01 vert under 75K miles is a great buy. And these verts don't have to worry about roof panels bubbling......

One final data point. Here's an apparently decent 2000 Firehawk A4 vert with 25K miles available for no more than $17,500. In my mind the mileage difference is worth +$3K and the Firehawk +1K.

Along these lines, I personally value the A4 cars much higher than the manuals, because my preference is for the auto. For me to even consider a manual, it would have to be an incredible deal. But as this is not consistent with the general market for these cars, I end up paying less for really nice A4s when I've found them. It's the best of both worlds; getting what I really want, and paying less while doing so.

Similarly, for those who like the convertibles, they can find some really great deals since they are in the minority among typical 4th gen buyers. I too have considered buying a convertible just to avoid the hassle of roof panel bubbles, but the convertible tops come with their own set of issues for examples that spend a lot of time outdoors in various weather, and since I'm out of garage space anything else I buy would have to sit outside.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback! You have given me a great idea of what to sell it for. I'm not trying to get a stupid price for it, or rip anyone off. I hate to sell it, but I really need a tractor for my new farm.
Everyone here has been very kind and considerate. Maybe when I get my farm going I'll buy another F-body. Lowering price to 14,500.

Try www.autotrader.com for a few weeks first at about $45. I have had good luck there when the car is priced right. That's the key. Your current price shown in the classified here is very realistic. If no bites here or Autotrader, try ebay, but get ready for the tire kickers and juveniles that pester you to death there. The good part is that ebay gets the most exposure nationwide and a sale is quite possible. I sold my '87 Aerocoupe there last year and it was worth the $125 fee ebay hits you with when the car sells. I prefer the fixed price OBO route when selling there. That eliminates the kiddies bidding and playing with the listing. GLWS!!

I have it on AutoTrader. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to go the EBAY route for the reasons you stated. I guess I will give it a week or so and see what happens. Thank you!

Wow, I just noticed you posted your WS6 vert on autotrader for $12,900 obo. Sort of suggests $12.5K or even $12K might buy it. If it's a really clean vert for 55K miles, you might be underselling it. Not all 55K verts are clean. You can always lower the price....never raise it. In fact, you might have a better chance of selling it for $13K+ by listing it for $14,500 and "allowing" the potential buyer to "beat" you down. $12,900 invites all the tire kickers in from $10K to $11K too. $12,500 would certainly attract my attention for this car.

There's a dealer on autotrader with a 41K mile 2002 WS6 vert for only $12,900. Not sure how they're doing that....on the "surface that car should be worth $3K more than yours. There are actually 3 of these (including yours) priced in the $12,900-$13,700 range that are comparable. For those looking for these it might be 500-1,000 miles between similar cars. And most buyers aren't going to be willing to travel that extra distance to check out another car. They'll take what's closer if the price is fair. In checking KBB values for exc verts with 15K miles, I'm sort of surprised at the rather large jump between years (2000: $15,562, 2001: 16,964, 2002: $18,964). $2K for one model year on a 14 yr old car? Maybe they've been upgrading these numbers....at least for verts. The diff between a 15K to 55K mile 2000 is $2500. That's a lot more than what they had done for coupes. Though I'd put it at more like $3500+ for those 40K miles.

$12,253 is the KBB "private party - very good condition" listing I get for a 55K mile 2000 WS6 vert. Not as low as I expected it would be from them. I ran my '99 SS M6 16K mile coupe through KBB and its private party value comes in at stinkin' low $8171 in exc condition. With 56K miles it only drops to $7070. That's a much lower premium for 40K miles than they give on the WS6 verts. So buy your LS-1 coupe's off KBB....lol. They bang the Camaro's much more than the Pontiacs....and the 1998-2000 cars a lot more than the 2001-2002's. Per KBB you can buy a '99 WS6 M6 with 16K miles for $10,848....and the 2002 version for $16,330. $5.5K diff for 3 model years?

I try to keep an eye on autotrader.com to see what moves or what doesn't move. This particular '99 SS I mentioned a month or more ago as being well priced for what it appears to be: 1 owner, 9K miles, leather, automatic. While they don't give any real detailed information on the car it's hard to believe it could be hiding something. At $13,500 this is a fair deal. Sort of surprised it hasn't sold yet. Should be worth in the $12's all day long. 1600+ views suggests it's been seen by more than enough people.

But I wouldn't put too much faith on an autotrader or ebay listing in only 1-2 days....and 73 views....particularly on a weekend. Who has any clue as to why lookers move on without calling? I've been watching autotrader and ebay on these cars for the past 3 years and it seems the only about 5-10% of the cars actually sell within 1-3 months. I see 90% of the same cars month after month....some for 1-2 years. Your car is only 1 of 3 WS6 verts on autotrader with <60K miles and priced at <$15K. There are not many to choose from across the country. It's also still only April. Convertible season doesn't even get going strong until May-July in 2/3 of the country.
