Default 1979 ford 400m

Category: Engine - Complete Motors
Price: $1000
Location (State): WI
Item Condition: Used
Engine: Big Block
LS Engine?: Non-LS Part

Originally from a 1979 Lincoln this 59,000 mile engine has been completely freshened up. Honed cylinders with Hastings rings and a polished crank with new Clevite rod, main, and cam bearings. New T-chain and oil pump. The cam is a new Schneider 256-2 hydraulic. Specs are (204/208 dur. @ .050" with .480"/.510" lift) idle - 5000 power band. Valves were lapped in (seats look fine) and bowls were ported/ valves were back cut. Brand new Competition Cams beehive valve springs, retainers, locks, and seals. All new gaskets. Cast iron 2bbl intake manifold has had the plenum bores ported and radiused. EGR spacer plate has been replaced by a Canton phenolic 1" spacer and included is a cheater modded 4412 Holley 500 cfm carb. Water pump, fuel pump, flex plate, and trans plate included. Also has water neck and stainless steel allen capscrew intake manifold and valve cover hardware.
Rated at a ground pounding 159 bhp and 274 tq, this engine should make at least a hundred more of each with a set of headers and free flowing exhaust.
Perfect for a mid seventies Bronco or F250 pickup truck. Very nice engine for a decent price. Can pickup locally...Call 414-406-0201...JIM

My "FORD GUY" uncle calls the M series engines boat anchors. LOL
I'll cut him some slack since he rolls in a tunnel-port headed, side oiler, 67 fast back Mustang. Perhaps I should be asking if anyone knows anyone who wants a nicely detailed and run ready anchor for their boat.

Yeah the original carb was some Fomoco Autolite garbage in an EGR spacer plate
I put a smoothed Venturi cheater 4412 Holley 500 cfm 2bbl that stock car guys use for class racing. They just work so well. Couple pumps cold start idle. Great throttle response and torque. The Canton phenolic spacer helps minimize heat in the carb and the intake throats have been hand ported to match the carb
The price if this engine is a steal
I have what I'm asking into this thing
It just needs a good home
It's like getting a free core/free ported heads & intake/free assembly and a free $300 dollar carb.
Unfortunately is just not a highly desired design but somebody has gotta need one somewhere
