PROOF You dont always get what you pay for in harnesses and tuning
So I removed the modified factory harness and did a short vid of the issues I found with it.
Too bad for the local craigslist harness modifier; he also runs a local dyno and LSx shop. His work stinks based upon what is shown here.
Either step up the quality or get out of the business.
Goes to show you that you don't always get what you pay for.
It was easier and more economical to build a Microsquirt standalone harness that tearing out this mess.

Then you add a PCM and tuning, so it's not really economical. For this application Microsquirt is ideal and economical plus no added cost for future turbo upgrade. :-)

He has way less than $650 in the microsquirt setup. Plus we can retune it for boost at no additional cost. For him it was a good choice after fighting the old setup for a couple months.
Amazing how the craigslist harness builder gave him his $$$ back after seeing and reviewing my feedback video.
Now he has enough $$ left over for a steak dinner and ice cream.

This application/harness used 2003-up pcm. I even swapped in my 99 camaro 411 pcm and still no iac scanner control. So the secondary issue was inside the harness which i did not want to waste my time tearing it all apart. The pcm that came with the modified harness was from a dbw yukon.

Yea, never trust hack harness builders. My guy did this little number, nice 14ga wire jumping a bundle of 8 wires to another bundle of 3 wires. It ran through a 30 amp relay and powered a; fan relay, a fuel pump relay, ecu/injector/coils. I dunno why my harness and relay was melting down. Bahahaha

We see this
frequently, at the shop where I work.
We build efi harnesses and custom dashes for Vettes, do installs.
Some of the **** is owner done, some is from a "pro"...All I can say is, WOW!
I think the current "record" is near 50 crimp-on butt splices, and some 15 different colored wire splices....All in the same car! [55 Ford].
Another fav of the idiots are wire nuts, used in house wiring.

A few years ago it was popular to swap in a z28 gage cluster into the 94-96 impala. I had a guy ask me to hekp troubleshoot it cause his gages were acting funny. After removing the cluster bezel, i saw about 50 all black wires with yellow crimp butt splice connectors. I just buttened it up and said i was not able to help him.
