Default Cam lobes messed up?????

Got my new comp cam today and the lobes look horrible? Should i send it back and have them regrind it? Take a look at the sharp edges on the lobe pics.

Did that come directly from Comp? Either way, I'd send that back.. I would not put that in my motor..

It was a custom ground cam i ordered from a reputable lt1 guru and it came from comp. Pretty disappointed in the quality.

China casting? The edges of that POS will flake off and ruin your engine-lifters. NO WAY would I use that!!

It's a cast cam, what did you expect? The rollers don't go over the edges so don't worry about it. You can deburr the lobe edges with a file if it really bothers you.

Just on visual alone I would send it back, especially on the 2nd pic. the lobe face itself looks "rough"

I had a custom cam from Comp. It was very nice finish

I would also cc the "cam guru" (Lloyd?) Not his fault but his opinion should be noted. I would think he would contact Comp also

Who was this "guru..."?

That has nothing to do with it. That cam is nothing more than a bad casting. It looks as though it was taken out of the reject bin. The journals and lobes should be ground down with a tapered edge. The lobes on that cam don't even look as though there's enough material to do that properly and none of the surfaces have been polished. Take a pic of the snout.

I can't see Comp sending something like that out.. I could be wrong.. But I think the "guru" is to blame for passing a China cam off as Comp.. Not trying to start anything, but something is fishy..

I've purchased a couple of Comp cast cams and they never looked like that. Since the cam came directly from the manufacturer (Comp Cams) then they are to blame.

I can't imagine Lloyd knowingly sending something in that condition. I thought Lloyd had all his cams ground by bullet?

When i got my stuff from lloyd he had comp just make the cams and send them out. I dont see why he would be to blame. Why didnt you ask him first instead of post about it on the internet.

Right...

Lloyd ordered my custom grind through Comp, and it didn't look like that. Send that thing back.

Lol! No im not blaming anyone. I just believe comp's machine must of just had a friday- day when grinding the cam. Im going to send it back for a regrind. Lloyd isnt to blame. In fact he is an awesome, easy to talk to, super knowledgeable, and helpful man. Comp just needs to get my cam lookin better!
