Default Factory brake upgrade (budget)

I haven't seen anything recently on factory upgraded brakes. So far there hasn't been any issues running factory brakes, just time to replace my front rotors and pads. Not looking for strange, lamb, aerospace etc... Just something a little better then factory and in the same price range.

Any suggestions?

I've heard brake motive mentioned a few times.

I run brakemotive slotted and Hawk HP+. They need a little heat to work well and they dust more than some would like, but it was a nice upgrade. I would rather a simple solid rotor, but they only offer slotted and slotted/drilled.

Solid rotor and a decent pad is all you need for drag racing.

I bought solid rotors from rock auto, raybestos, for about $125 shipped. about another $160 for Hawk HPS pads. Very happy with both. HPS pads are quieter and less dust than stockers.

Do yourself a favor and dont just on the cheap cross drilled and slotted rotor wagon.

Its just for looks and will stop worse than a good blank rotor with some good hawks or similar pads.

The reason is you reduce the surface area of the rotor with all the little holes and increase the chance they crack. Lots of us have been there.

I'm in the same boat as well. I am going to work on the bushings/rear LCAs in the rear and then my next project will be brakes. I just want something better than stock for street use. I don't want slotted, drilled, or whatever. Just a nice blank rotor that is better than stock. I might just get a kit from a sponsor or something (not big brake kit).

I run baer eradispeed aluminum hat rotors with performance friction pads. One of the best upgrades is stainless braided brakelines.

saw that on my S10. Steel lines don't dwell so the power goes to the brakes better

+ 1 for blank rotors (I use NAPA Gold rotors at a whopping cost of $35-$40 each) and Hawks HPS for a street application.

For what it's worth, my road course car is running factory brakes with those rotors and Hawks DTC-60 or DTC-70 pads on front and HP+ in the rear. I haven't had any trouble with brake fade and I've had plenty 90*+ track days here in Atlanta with repeated high speed stops (Road Atlanta, Atlanta Motor Speedway, AMP, etc.).

2nd on raybestos blanks from rock auto. Also picked up ceramic rear pads with carbon fiber/ceramic pads on front. Will be doing my brakes tomorrow if all goes well.
