Default First Time Rebuild. Possible block. Opinions wanted.

I have been wanting to build a mild LS1 to replace the one getting up in milage in my 98 Z28. This would be my first foray into engine rebuilding but I feel pretty confident in assembly and planning. I do want an opinion on a potential block.

It's as follows:
5.7 aluminum block
51xxx mileage
Damaged sleeve
Cleaned and Honed
Still has cam bearings

Asking 200

I realize it will need reslevIng but what are the thoughts of something like this to start?

I think it'll be too much trouble. Sledging that could get expensive. You can probably find a different block without damage for just a little more money.

The price seems negotiable. Is there a price this makes sence? Seller claims A valve seat dropped and messed up a piston and cylinder.

It's hard to see what the damage is, but if it needs to be sleeved, I would a avoid it altogether. If you're looking for a block to send to RED/ERL for sleeves, there are better blocks to use. If you want to put something together for cheap, you can find a different aluminum blocm for a better price. In fact, check the classifieds. I think there's a guy in Austin selling an aluminum 5.3L for a good price.
