Default Ai 219hcr & sns2

I have been collecting parts for the past year and finally have everything I need to complete this swap with all the supporting hardware. This is a combo I haven't found a lot of information on so I'm hoping to start my first build thread to give anyone in the future an idea on how it performs. I initially bought the cam planning on doing a cam only swap. As I sat around collecting parts the next thing I know I'm sending a set of 241's to AI. By the end of the install I still may end up pawning my ls6 for a FAST92. Anyways, I dove into it last night and should have the heads off by the end of the night tomorrow. This process might take me a while as it is my first time and I'm only working on it a few hours a night and taking it slow. I'll take some pics of my progress tonight and upload pics of the goodies this weekend.

Sounds like a nice build! Definitely sell the LS6 for a Fast.

That combo should work pretty well. I would e-mail the cam specs to Phil at AI and make sure he thinks the cam and valve events will work well with the flow characteristics of those heads. He may feel a different cam would be better suited to the heads, and/or your goals for the car.

When I ordered the heads I told him what cam I already had bought. He didn't have anything negative to say about it. However he did say he would rather use one of his cams that he knows works well with those heads. He said I could have gone bigger knowing the exact specs as they check everything before it goes out.

It's been about a year since we talked. Knowing what I know now that I would eventually have the heads sent off I would have just got the package from him.

I've planned on going with AI HCR 241's for years and also planned on a similarly sized cam so I'll keep an eye out how it goes. I would for sure go with a FAST 92, if funds allow.

Yeah I probably will. I know I'll kick myself later if I don't. I kind of liked the underrated look being nothing out of the ordinary with 241's and an ls6 intake.

This is how I left it last night. Besides a few hard to reach bolts under the cowl it's been smooth sailing. Having a buddy come over Friday night to help pull the radiator. I might try to drop the headers and pull the heads off tonight.

Update
Got the radiator out, heads off, and lifters out. Up next is getting the pulley off and get that cam out. Almost felt bad about busting into a 30k mile engine but there's no looking back now.

Well it has been a few days. Havnt made much progress. Just been cleaning bolt holes and the old head gaskets. For some reason I'm struggling to get the bolt holes dry. I'm going to leave some paper towels in each hole over night and see what that does. Here are some pics of some of the goodies. Can't wait to see how this combo does!

Looks like you have a nice pile of parts there, or a pile of nice parts. Either way, I am quite interested to hear how you like the AI HCR 241's, as those heads have always interested me.

I've never wanted to see a dyno sheet so bad in my life. There's so little info on these heads and now we finally have a build thread. God bless you sir!!!

Yeah I've seen them but think about it, that's all there is. Try googling the PRC 5.3 heads or AI 226 heads or TEA ported heads, you'll gets days worth of results, compared to the like 5 you get when you google these. Consistently good data of a product is key.

I might not have it on the dyno until after the first of the year. And being in Nebraska that will more than likely be into March. I'll be busy this winter as after I'm done with this I'll be upgrading the fuel pump and the clutch. I only have time to work on it a few hours here and there.

that is because the other heads make more power. 241's will always come up 10-15whp short of a 243 all else being equal.

When it comes time to install the rockers, be sure to thread seal those rocker bolt holes.

That is true. What sold me on them was I could bump my compression up to 11:1 and still not lose any valve clearance. From what research I did find everyone is happy with them and the price is decent.
