Default Vinci 216 224 cam

I have a 2002 ws6 trans am. It is a 3.23 geared automatic car. It has 74,000 miles on it. Only mods are tsp 1 3/4 lt headers and tsp 3 ory, slp lid, slp dual dual catback exhaust, ported stock tb. I will be getting a circle d 278mm 3200 converter also. I am looking at getting the vinci 216 224 cam.. Vinci offers 4 different versions of this cam on their website. The 1st version is the 216 224 551 551 115lsa. The 2nd version is the 216 224 585 585 115lsa. The 3rd is the 216 224 551 551 113 lsa with 4 degrees advanced. The 4th is the 216 224 585 585 113 with 5 degrees advanced. My car is mostly a street car, but sometimes i run it at the 1/4 track. This car has stock 241 heads. I would like to know which one of these 4 cams that i have listed, would be best for the street and strip and work best with my stock 241 heads that are not ported. Also how much difference would their be in lope between a 115 lsa vs. a 113lsa. Thanks

Nobody has any recommendations on which is the best out of these four cams.

My guess would be the 216/224 551/551 on stock 241 heads since flow will peak at 500-550 lift.

As I understand it, it depends on where you want the powerband. I think the 115 would produce more low end torque for a street car while the 113 would probably offer peak HP a little higher. With unported heads, it probably isn't enough to make much of a difference.

I think this is correct.

http://www.hotrod.com/articles/ccrp-...ft-comparison/

Funny thing is that the wider LSA produced less HP and less torque.

So the 113 would have more low end torque over the 115. I guess the 115 would be best for the 1/4 mile.

I think you'd be better off with ported heads before doing the cam.

if i were you i would get a set of 243's used, get them checked, go ahead and get new lifters and oil pump, then go with a lil bigger cam that is proven with great street manners and power. Just my .02$

Go with the 216 224 113+4 version, it will make excellent under the curve power in the 5.7. Don't listen to everyone telling you that you have to go bigger just because they did. This will be a great performing and reliable setup, with a good tune of course!, that should surprise a lot of of the donkey dick cammed cars out there!

As was stated in post #3 above, the 241 head peaks at .500-.550 lift, so any more lift would be sort of a waste unless the head is ported. Stock 241, .551 will do the job.
