Better HP Tuners custom tune (www.hptuners.com) <-- well worth it!

I picked up the last of my parts on Friday from Speed Inc (www.ls1speed.com), Tom ordered some parts expadited for me so I could race on sunday. Thanks Tom!
Worked on the car all friday.. Pro Stock John came by Saturday morning to help and then Horist came by saturday afternoon to assist.. Thanks guys!!!
Finished about 10pm saturday (thats kinda early.. usually I work till 1am)... Car is loaded and ready to go.
Go home, get to bed around 11pm.. This is very early for me.. Usually HP Tuners has me up late...
Wake up at 5:30.. wash up, eat a few bowls of kellogs corn flakes.. The box was low so I got a lot of the crumbs.. wasn't the greatest but oh well. I could have gone for an omlette or something with more subtance but I told John we roll out at 7am and I didn't want to be late.
Got to the methlab (where I store the car and the tow RV) around 6:30 and fired up the carburated 460 big block.. damn RV runs like ***.. 30 degress outside and it was not too happy with me. After a few minutes of horrible choke operation it kicks into its normal late 80's big block carburated mode of gas hogination... so I go and fill her up.. Can you believe the thing only holds like 30 gallons of gas?? and thats with 2 tanks.. damn ford.
So I get back, pick up john and take off... Car is covered in frost..
1.5 hours and several evasive maneuvers avoiding people who are ignorant to the stopping force required to stop a vehicle of such mass, we arrive at the track...
Fire up the bitch and let it run for about 20 minutes while we unload it.. race elec water pump with no thermo and it takes a while to warm up. It was about 40 at this time...
Throw on the fire jacket and tech.. guy writes the dial in and I go up to the lines..
Tires are at 17psi cold with front QA1 R's at 1 and rear QA1's at 7.. huge burnout and stall it up to 3K.. launch it, spin and get massive air..
1.64 11.29@118.8
Come back, lower the tires to 15psi'ish. Change the tune.
1.58 11.25@119.0
Come back lower the tires to 13psi'ish and set the rear QA1's to 1. Change the tune.
1.45 11.06@119
I let the car cool some... lower the tires to 12psi'ish.. Change the tune.
1.40 11.002@118.9 <- NEW WORLD RECORD
Let the car cool some, change the tune
1.40 11.008@119.0
Say a small prayer and change the tune and set the front shocks to 3.
1.41 11.01@118
Let it cool off
1.41 11.03@118
More cool off and change the tune..
1.40 11.000@118.75 <-- NEW WORLD RECORD!!!
Tweak the tune.
1.41 11.01@118
tried to launch harder.. some runs that I just let off after the 60.. after the 1.40 60's the tranny wanted some rest.. so I let it rest.
1.48 11.09@118
Let it cool some mroe
1.43 11.03@119
1.48 11.09@118
1.41 11.02@118
1.42 11.02@119
Few bi runs.. car is taking a real abuse today, mainly the transmission.
1.42 11.01@119
At this point I said screw it.. 30 minutes left (We've been racing for 5.5 hours so far) so I pulled the car behind the trailer and went up to the crew and threw in the towel.. after 15 minutes John was egging me on to make another pass and joked how it would be an 11.02 pass.. he kept egging me on so I said f it.. I set the front shocks back to 1 and lowered the tire to 12psi hot..
Got up there and did a good burnout.. I tried not to leave as hard since the harder I stalled it, it seems to spin a pinch and didn't 60' like it did originally..
I stall to around 3250 and flashed the bitch.. Felt good..
1.42 11.001@119.3 .. why?.. what did I do to deserve such torture..
So I said what the hell.. at this point I am on FUMES.. I've added several gallons of gas a few times already.. but I was at E and did'nt feel like going to the pits to add a gallon and raced on extreme E.
I get up there and they said it was the last pass of the day..
1.422 10.987@119.31 <-- yes... on video too...

HUGE thanks to:
Speed INC. That is one HELL of a tough transmission you guys put together.
US 41.. Man, they VHT'd the track every other run of mine. THey wanted me to run 10's more than I did.
Pro stock John and Horist for helping me through the weekend with the car.
John, Tim, Mark and Elmer for supporting me the ENTIRE 6 hours.. I REALLY appreciate it guys.. Thanks a TON!
As far as the tuning goes.. While I do have a slight unfair advantage, I used no tuning methods that are currently not available in our verion 1.5 of software. I truely had to tune the car to this point.. For all you speed density guys, just log your IAT's and note how they change from the start of your pass to the end and note how it affects your AFR.. Accurate IAT is VERY critical for SD users. With my 90mm setup I added a 10" extension tube and put my IAT in it right near the TB opening. It helped my IAT readings 10x...
Boy.. am I tired.. what a day what a day.

Thanks!

One comment and one question: Comment: Thanks for getting in the 10's...saves me my idea of sticking my spare stock motor in to go bulb a 10 SI, and I mean that seriously. I was toying with doing that if someone did not get there before spring. Question: Raceweight? Take care. Dave

Dave, I Think race weight is low 29xx's but I haven't had the car on a scale in a very very long time..
I could save about 15lbs going to a drag seat.. and then I could start cutting holes.. not sure what else is left.
low 2900 #'s.. damn! that is incredible!
too bad they didn't prep the track like that for the N vs S event lol!!!!
