Default LS2 intake on an LS1???

Is the LS2 intake supposed to be better than the LS6 intake?? I am curious b/c I've read some threads where people were claiming they were going to put an LS2 intake on their LS1's??

I have seen some pretty **** poor results from the new LS2 intake. I would say stick with an LS6.

I think it is designed for a different setup and that is why the results are different.

It will be interesting to see results on big cube applicatons...But initial results do not look so good for the LS2..Especially on stock cube apps.

I will be giving one a shot? Most benefit has been seen in the upper rpms.

I think it was designed to be manufactured cheaper, and then displacement in the engine would make up for any power "loss" over what could have been had with a better quality intake.

I thought the quality was ok. Had to do some clean up just like the LS6 intake. I got mine all on and had a lot more problems trying to get the FAST tb to work. The stupid thing sticks when closed and hangs open a bit. I have a 422 and it is real responsive at low speed. My tranny pump died before I could get any track time. I am swapping to a 4L80e now so it will be difficult to compare. Not worth the money so far as what I can tell.

If that were to be true it would be nice to find out how an LS6 intake would work on an LS2 Block and heads. That would be some good info If there were to be any gains.

We had several intake tests done including:

LS6 intake on a 5.7L
LS2 intake on a 5.7L
FAST intake on a 5.7L

You can see the results here:

http://www.gearchatter.com/viewtopic10974.php

We will also have some results regarding an LS6 intake on a LS2 in the next day or two as well as some surprising truck intake results.

The LS2 intake is a nice intake, but we have found the LS6 intake to still be one of the best!!

One of the teams at this past Thunder Shootout was using one on a FI application. Results were very good. angelo

I think the LS2 with a 90mm intake track setup is optimum for a F/I with the volume. Who cares about velocity when you are stuffing the air with booosssstttt...

Curious thought... since the LS2 uses a 90 mm, velocity will slow, thus cooling the intake charge a little...less air compression means less heat... wonder if it makes any difference at all.

Hot Rod magazine picked up 8hp and 16 lb-ft of torque by swapping an LS6 intake, and the smaller TB to go with it, on to an LS2. April issue. How a LS6 intake is better on an LS2 than the intake that was designed for it is beyond me.

Aaaah, but it was better for GM. Much cheaper to make. Dollar is job one.

Car feels great. Tune for the ride home was quite lean down low and up high? Now time to get that intercooler issue resolved. I will be sending you a pm, and may stop by your shop here in a month or so. angelo
