Default Impressed with the SRT-8 Vehicles

We've recently started custom tuning Dodge vehicles and I'm pretty impressed with the power from the factory and the gains from a tune and CAI. Here are two we did last week.

Someone finally came out with tuning software for these cars? That's pretty cool.

Yep, my buddy has a Magnum SRT-8 with a CAI and I can barely pull him on the highway. I'm putting down 420.

Somethings wrong with your car if you can just barely pull him with 420 at the tires or the guy with the SRT-8 Magnum is packing more than just a CAI. I walked one at the track by at least a full second with only 395 at the tires. He had CAI and exhaust work. I got a video of it somewhere. He trapped about 108 or so and I trapped 118 or so.

Yep, I have a couple (bolt on) buds who dont want to race my wife's modded 300C SRT8. They are awesome. 4100lbs inst massive. Like a GTO with 2 fat chicks in the back. You dont feel it though the the A5 and the low end power.

Youre talking 1/4 mile where the weight is a major factor but at 50-70+ I would bet ours will run with a mildly cammed F-body and It will continue to 175+ which most F-bodies dont run up to. It sure does pull on my full bolt on SS. The stock trap mph is usually 108 FYI.

Are you guys modifying the Diablo canned tunes? Can you do an emailed tune? Its gotta be better than what Diablo has canned.

400+rwhp through that trans is awesome power for a CAI/Tune.

Just telling you what I saw. I remain unimpressed. I'm they respond well to mods considering they copied the LS1 design, lol. Glad to see that they finally cracked the computer on them. I used to have a 4.7 2wd dakota that I sold in favor of my formula because of lack of aftermarket support. Of course that was back before they came out with the new hemi.

I'm talking from an 80 roll. My car traps 116-118 on average. His car trapped at 110. There's not much difference once you are at speed.

Gotcha.

Thats a drastic change right there, all in the name of performance.
I come from a H/C full bolt on SS AND a KB Cobra and I am impressed each time I drive it though, as well as Livernois. They still lack a bit of parts in the aftermarket but none of them are racers either. Now the Challenger will suffer from lean aftermarket parts.

You'd be surprised at how well my SRT8 Charger w/ CAI and diablo tune only can hang with much more powerful cars from a roll. I haven't had a chance to run the 1/4 since the tune. Livernois: I'm interested if the tuning you guys have is modified diablo, maybe something you can sell via mail order (i.e. send the tuner to you, you download program, I load it to the car. ). Let us know.

Actually Unit is mentioning it and I forwarded the 300forums post about how well Livernois is tuning them. It would be nice to know our tunes are verified by Livernois.

It would work well on all the SRT8 models as well. Charger, Jeep, Magnum and 300's.

Impressed with the gains, but still heavy. I have 06 Monte Carlo SS all stock, and beat stock Charger R/Ts and 300's all day. They have the HP on me but I'm lighter and I win.

Check the LS4 section of this fourm and you'll see mid to low 13's with tune, exhaust, and K&N's on the LS4. Also a kill list.

Some of the Sponsers should welcome the LS4 for mods.

Are you sure your not just beating the 5.7 versions? I have a hard time believing a stock Monte Carlo ss can beat a SRT charger or 300 with the 6.1L Hemis

My car put down 330 rwhp and I have raced a few SRT8s from 65-75 rolls and I beat everyone by about 1-3 cars. They get an initial car or so because thats a dead spot in my auto with 3.73s but before 100 I'm already around them and pulling the faster we go. As far them doing 175+. Never seen it but I have never raced past 150 on the street anyways. Car saw 163 (calculated) with 500rpms to go.

Anyways I do like the SRT8s specially the Chrysler and Jeep. Would make a great family car, cool to see they have finally began tearing into the tuning with them.
