18.5lbs. 15* timing Started dropping speed at 19.5lbs, I think my super quiet exhaust may be killing me. May make a quick 4" DP with no muffler and give it a go. The timing dropping so low may be killing me as well. Only got 3 runs in.

It's so quiet it almost sounds like the exhaust dump isn't opening.

Very cool setup. I love it.

Your car does not 60' very good at all. It would be in the very low 9's if you can knock two tenths off the 60'. I bet if you put a smaller tire on it you would be closer.

Thanks!, hoping to dial the suspension in after I get the tune down. Shooting for some 1.3x 60's in the future. Wheelie bars are already setup.

Took it out tonight. Only got two runs in. Bumped timing up to 18* and removed the Exhaust dump setup. Boost went from a solid 18 to creeping up to 20 in the upper RPM's in high gear with this change. Also firmed up the rear shocks and it helped the 60' a bit. Pulled both wheels about 3 inches off the ground.

1.47 60' on 7lbs.

Thanks all. Found the limit of the spring in the waste gate last time out. 20psi just barely creeping to 21 in the upper rpms.

New best of 9.44 @ 148.76. 15* timing at peak torque (guessing anyway) and ramp up to 18* up top.

Crappy 60' times are kill'n me. Not sure what the deal is. I think the slicks are just ancient. Even from a 60mph roll on the street the tires light up at 17lbs or so. I get nasty tire shake launching higher than 10-12 lbs at the track. Then it spins. Slicks have tubes, anything under 12psi in the tires tire shake gets worse. Tried 10psi-19psi 14-15 seems to be the happy spot. Also tried all 3 settings on the comp engineering rear shocks. Best launch was on the middle setting. Tried the full hard this last time and it was worse.

Also rigged up the AEM EMS Boost controller this weekend. Should be able to push it past 20psi. I'm still pretty low compression compared to most so I think it will take another 5psi or so without exploding. Time will tell!

Almost in the 8's... 23.8lbs of boost and a 24lb launch seemed to work well!

9.04 @ 151

I have about the same car with a completely stock cam only L33 in a 95 Nissan 240sx. Stock IRS rear. I went 8.99@151 at LSfest in Sept. 2013. The low compression from the 317's is hurting you but you have some other parts that are better than mine.

Nice going this fast for cheap aint it!

I'm going tomorrow but I'm out of gear with the 3.70 and 28" tires. It's gonna get way faster in the spring. Any insight on putting a 8.8 rear under my 240sx?

Man your car boogies in the 1/8th! What kind of RPM are you seeing through the traps? How fast do you want to go? They don’t make a taller gear than a 3.70 for that rear? You going with the 8.8 IRS dif or a solid axle setup? Have you looked at the Gear-Vender units? Would cost roughly the same, and be much easier to install. I was thinking about ditching my 3.10 gear and goint to a 3.55 with a gear vendor unit. Would be the only 4 speed power glide out there for sure!

I wish I had an L33! I think the L33 cam would have worked better for my setup too. I wasn’t reving mine high enough to take advantage of the Zr1 cam. They really wake up at 6000+. On a stock NA 5.3 they made 90ftlb and 112 hp over the stock LM7 cam at 6500rpm. I love to see what a high boost 4.8 with a ZR1 cam would do at 7500rpm.

I don’t think low compression is hurting me. Just needed to run more boost to make up for it! A full point of compression only nets about 4% more hp. Yet dropping a full point allows you to gain much more than 4% in added boost. Technically the lower compression stuff can make more power. Think Ladyfinger VS and M80. If you have a larger chamber to put air and fuel in, It will make a bigger “boom”. Should have cranked it to 26-28!

Just curious, but which parts do you think I have that are better than yours?

Love this car. I would think you need wheelie bars! How do you get the car to launch that good? Can you tell me what plugs you run, and the gap. Also what fuel you run?

BR7ES gapped at .022. E85.

I have wheelie bars for it. If I put a decent gear in the back it will need them. Right now its fighting the 3.10 gear/28" tire combined with a 1.76 1st gear of the glide. Its like trying to launch your car in 2nd gear (slightly worse). I have it geared this way because I like to drive it on the street/highway.
