Default stall conveter question. A non ls1 bolt up

I know this is supposed to be in the tanny section but I will be running 9s and want experience advice. Im looking at a converter to buy from a company. This company was mentioned as on on the top conveters to buy from. I didnt want to use there name I didnt thank they are a sponser on here. so They do not make a ls1 t400 converter they said they could make the pilot bearing longer. I have a TCI ls1 flexplate in my car. Question will that converter bolt up to that flexplate or do I need to buy another flexplate. Or drill holes in mine. My flexplate is the re enforced thicker one sfi one or whatever they call it. thanks for any imput

The pilot being longer has nothing to do with the bolt pattern.

The pilot engages the converter to the back of the crankshaft and LS1's need a little longer than SBC converters.

Your TCI should have LS1 and SBC bolt patterns.

Circle D is a sponsor here and I jsut went through the same thing. I have the same TCI flexplate and ran it with my 4L60E. They built us a converter for our new Circle D powerglide and it's an efficient bolt in item.

That flex-plate should work. It is a dual pattern, it has the LS1 and SBC pattern. The smaller one will be the SBC. Make sure the pilot, the part that goes in the crank, is at least 3/8" taller than the pads. I prefer the pilot to be 1/2" to be on the safe side and have good engagement in the crank. Other than that it should bolt right up. Good luck!
