Default 454 BBC...with electronic fuel injection

454ci BBC.

What kind of RWHP could be expected with the best flowing heads available and a carb style type intake? Pretty big cam, but nothing stupid. 11.5:1 cr. M6 tranny.

Is 750 RWHP possible N/A.

that would be mght be a tad to high.. but if u have all the money to do t.. it could be aceaivable,, but not on pump gas, way above 7,000 rpm. money money, build a 496 about the same cost of 454, stoke it, best heads are the aftermarket 4 valve heads, cost 15,000 plus!. more like 20,000... but i belieave 700 + rwhp is not likey with a n/a pump gas 454, would have to be blown, fi,

Yes its possible, and you don't need to get crazy with 4 valve heads. Hot Rod built a 540BBC that made 793hp on pump gas, while not your 750 RWHP goal its going to be damn close and I am sure you could do something a little extra to get a little more horse power out of it and still keep it N/A.

I always wondered something.

What would happen if two people built two different 454ci engines.

One was a BBC 454ci and the other was a LSx 454ci.

On 93 octane pump gas, thats the only rule for both builds, which could be built to make more HP for a street car. Normally aspirated. Buy any parts that are available.

My guess:
I would have to guess that the BBC 454ci would whip the LSx (small block) simply because the head choices for the BBC will allow much more flow.

If all it had to do was run on 93 and be N/A it would be pretty close IMO. I think the BBC would win just because of the massive bore and would definitely be more reliable. With the high dollar components and a nice set of heads I think a LSx would be comparable, but definitely easier/cheaper with the BBC.

So if two people had $14,000 to spend, one builds a BBC 454 and the other a LSx 454......whatever parts they want.......93 pump gas...11.3:1 compression each.

Who wins the power/torque contest?

We already know the BBC will kill the LSx in reliability.

What kind of power could the 454 BBC make? RWHP?
