Default Overheating 86 Monte Carlo?

My brother has a 86 Monte Carlo with a 350.

Stock 350,cc quadrajet,stock manifolds

Ive been trying to find out why the car seems to be getting hot.Seems the car's manifolds get red hot after a wot and the top radiator hose is balloons up as it has air in it.Only happens after wot.The idle seems to jump up too.Note:The car has no thermostat, new wires, new plugs.Rebuilt the car,but might be faulty still.

My questions are what would cause the manifolds to get red hot and make the top radiator hose ballon up.Some have suggested cloged manifold, other said hole in the head gasket.

Does the car have cats? If it does, I'd suspect a clog there.

It was a clogged cat.I know now what the symptoms are of a clogged cat.

Put a thermostat in.

Also, change the upper rad hose before it leaves you stranded.

I agree, change that hose. I've never seen a hose do that before from a blocked cat though, hopefully there aren't head gasket issues now.

I'd be doing a compression check to be safe.

I did not have those characteristics from a clogged cat. Floor did get warm though.

ditto, and change the bottom one also. cheap insurance. If the bottom one doesn't have a spring in it, it will colapse.
