I run 10.60's NA with my 383 on pump gas. Race weight is 3480. It can easily be done.

YEa, if all your suspension is right and you have a good set of rubber with some 3.73-4.10 gears, you should get there, but i would say use a 3500 stall to get the 60 foot down a bit better.

The 383 can make 550 HP on pump gas, so with a 427 you are looking at 600 or so depending on all the goodies and guessing by the 4/7 swap cam it is taking advantage of every possible hint of power.

Zones said it best. Suspension has a lot to do with it. I had picked up over a second with my 68 Bird years ago by playing with the suspension.

Good luck on finding a 8.5 to fit the car. Unless you go ladder bars and coil overs. You can buy 12 bolts to bolt in.

I don't know what your heads flow, but I have seen numbers for the Air Gap and the regular Victor Jr...they are nearly equal. Both are probably a restriction to the heads you have now (the intakes flow around 230CFM on the good ports). A Super Victor or Motown would be a better choice for the 427 (both flow around 280). If the 383 sees street time, I would stick with the air gap and get it ported...keep that low end torque. Either engine should get you into the 10's. I would keep the 383 and spend your money on suspension and a torque converter (3600-4400 stall...depending on your current camshaft).

the camshaft on the 383 is very small its 224/230 with .50×"/.510" lift and those heads breath well over .600" lift so I will custom ground cam for the 427
