good and easy way to find tdc?
i have a custom ground cam in a sbc. i'm trying to figure out what size push rods i need with a push rod length checker. i have my #1 piston at top dead center as best as i can get by eye-balling it.
i just wanted to know if there was any fool-proof way you can check it without the fancy measuring tools?

Stick a screw driver into the spark plug hole, if the piston is close to TDC, the screwdriver should make a loud sound.
You could use the dampener and timing mark to find TDC for cylinder #1.
