Default 14-71 Ignition options?

Street car

BDS 14-71 pro charger
496 tall deck
solid roller
7000 rpm limit
20 psi max on gas

Street car so a offset mag isn't really a good option.

I don't believe that locked timing is a good choice for the street.

So, nobody has ever done a BBC offset drive MSD distributor? I have seen them, but only for 351 & 460 ford engines.

Couldn't you run a crank drive?

We would be able to use a conventional distributor, but we used an intercooler under the 14-71, so we had more room.

You could use a crank trigger ignition and use a crab type MSD distributor.

Here's my 598 tall deck with a belt drive setup.

Just an option for you.

My brother built a offset drive once for our 500" BBC. worked pretty good until we got a belt drive. I don't know what happened to it. Can ask my dad if you wouldl ike to see it.

belt drive is the only way to go with that set up. And wow are you going to have enough fuel with those carbs?

And 20 ps1 on gas. WOW with my bbc and 9lbs I had to run 94 oct and it started a 8.2:1 comp.
Interesting build what are you putting this in?

The entire belt drive setup costs allot, right now i have a stock gen 6 single roller from GM, $46.00 for the timing set including the nice thrust plate.

Looks like crab cap & crank trigger, since I don't understand mag's
