Default cam help

im throwing together a little street motor for my 91, its a flat top 383 with a set of 185cc 23* all-pro heads, and a dual plane intake. i need help with the cam, i don't want to run a huge stall (2500-2800) if possible. i would be happy with 400-450rwhp if thats possible

That is the issue, with a large cam comes a large stall, and if you want 400 RWHP you will need a cam that will want a good stall speed.

I had one that was 236/242 @.050(.520/.540 lift on a 110 LSA) in a 383 with dish pistons and it ran its *** off for a budget motor, i think you will be happy with that as it doesnt require a huge stall, but a 2800 would be what it wants, just remember, a 2800 stall wont foot brake to 2800, maybe 2000 with good tires, unless it is just a loose stall. It will drive fine.

Stock cammed LS1 guys prefer 3500+ stall speeds and you want a moderately cammed engine with a 2500? what's the point of having power if you can't access it when you put your foot down? I drive my 4500 stall so maybe my advice is way off.

230/236 or 236/242 like Zone said will work nice but they both would SHINE if you used a 3500 minimum stall speed. Fill out the spec sheet for Bullet racing cams. They will give you specs for free and cut you a billet steel cam pretty cheap. Goodluck!
