There is a little bit more to it then just the compression but I run pump gas motors at 10.5:1

I think there will be a lot of variables that affect your max compression. I run 10.8:1 (actual measured) compression on 93 no problem. SBC with AFR heads, RPM Air Gap and Mighty Demon carb. The timing curve is real aggressive...20 initial, 18 mechanical all in by 2800RPM. With vacuum advance, I idle at 52* advance. I have the stock third gen cooling setup with dual electric fans.

I have ran pump 93 on 12.5 to 1 but I was running a huge cam so it bled off the compression and had pull back the timing. I wouldn't recommend racing on that, it was only to drive to the car hang out and car shows.
