Default BBC 396/402 questions

This is for my Nova, I have been fightin this motor, since I got the car, got it running then the timing would jump, set it at TDC, start it, it would run, then shut it down, set it at TDC again, and I am off not just 180 off, sometimes more sometimes less.. kinda crazy..

If anyone has any ideas, I am all ears..

The setup is a
Stock 402 bottomend
hand ported 427 heads
comp 284H cam
Tq2 intake
Holley 850dp carb
MSD HEI

I am trying to get this thing running right, have to admit my LQ4 in the formula is easier for me to understand, than this.. Sad.. I know..

You need about 32 total timing. Sounds like your distributor clamp is bend and not holding down the dist.

Never "SNUG" a distributor. THEY WILL MOVE.
