Default Using a marine 502ci block?

Anyone ever heard of using a marine block to build a 502 (for a car)?

I found a 69 camaro for sale, and the owner built the motor with some of his buds that he restores/shows cars with. He said it has a "marine block". Tried calling him today to hear the details... but wanted some input from people.

In the early 80's Reher/Morrison won NHRA and IHRA world championships 3 years in a row being the first to ever do it in the same year. They were using marine blocks. 500" for the NHRA setups and over 600" for the IHRA setups.

These days 496 marine blocks are more plentiful than almost any other big block and is a good choice for a build seeing they are intended for extended wot performance.

Hope this helps.

The "Marine 502 HO" block is very stout, not quite a Dart but still capable of withstanding 1500hp+. They can safely go to 4.625" bore. I use one in my 565.
