Default SBC turbo or s/c for carb setup?

i managed to get my engine back in running order. oil leak fixed (rear intake bolt loosened up). pinging fix (timing to far advanced). no i'm looking into getting either a turbo or s/c for my carb setup. keep in mind that the engine is a 355 fresh rebuilt. stock rods, flat tappet cam/lifters, stock rockers, 305 HO milled head (no porting). currently has a edelbrock 1406 manual choke 650 carb. going to upgrade to holley 750 d/p when i get the turbo or s/c.

what turbo or s/c do you guys suggest?

turbo, i can fabricate the hot and cold side on my own.

You could try these guys:

Name:Turbo Systems Inc
Address:1767 N Medina Line Rd
City:Akron
Zip:44333
State:OH
Phone: (330) 666-3503

They made a twin turbo set-up for a SBC where the turbos sat in front of the heads, so no A/C. You mounted your carb on a box and the turbos came in under the carb. I saw a SBC of theirs put out 800 hp with a 600 CFM carb. Ran the quarter in the mid 11's with a 3.08 rear gear/turbo 350 trans.

depends on a lot of things, stock pistons? any idea on CR with the 305 heads you will likely be limited because the CC size is usually smaller and the runner volume is pretty small especially when milled.. if you have forged pistons you could run very low boost on 10:5:1 im even too nervous to do that do mine.

I love Prochargers for early SBC engines. Easy and good bang for the buck.

I'm debating this now. I have a 'built' SBC but it's at 10:1 compression. ProCharge it or LS swap with a ProCharger or other forced induction with fuel injection.

Ahhhh decisions!

There is a lot of very good information in the ProCharger carb catalog found at the above link. Bob
