L98 Shortblock Vortec heads and nitrous
So I'm the process of selling my spare 6.0 to build a new engine for my 2 door Yukon DD but I want a lil more power on it so I was thinking of replacing my high mileage L05 TBI with a 0 miles rebuilt L98 shortblock, add some Vortec heads with LS6 springs to get more lift on them, a 150HP nitrous shot, and a mild cam.
My pcm has already been modified from a chip based to a flash based pcm and I have a tune on it to run 8 injectors instead of just two and I have a Aeromotive 340 pump ready to go so there is no issue there. The transmission I'll get it rebuilt since my high mileage one the only upgrade it has is a corvette servo. My question is would this combination get me in the mid 500HP range?

Absolutely - as long as you pick the right cam, exhaust, and tune it right - 550hp on the 150 shot.
About 15 years ago, I did something similar with a 30k mile Vette L98. Ported L98 heads, Accel 219/219 roller, headers, edelbrock q-jet performer RPM and it made (calculated) 397hp - probably had 10 or 15 more hp if it was tuned absolutely perfect. Also had a 150 shot of nitrous.

I got true duals with stock exhaust manifolds right now but will upgrade to probably LT with this. I just need to generate good low end torque cause this will be going into a 4x4 truck.

The easiest way to get the low end torque you are looking for is to place a set of smaller port, high flow heads on your motor. Most people will give up TQ for hp, but in your case (and in most street cars), TQ makes the power to get moving. 180cc or less on the heads would be about right.

94-95 TBI's can run 2-6-8 Injectors by removing the resistors that are in the ecm plus telling the computer the number of injectors.

It's a lil more work to tune OBD1 cause you need an emulator to replace the chip or a chip burner and flash chip plus adapters but once you get them the possibilities are almost endless.

I can PM you a list of hardware you will need to datalog as well as the parts needed to replace the chip with a flash based emulator so you can tune it on the fly.
