Default 383 stroker

Is a 383 stroker worth it over a regular 350 crank? I'm running a 350 30 over and was debating about throwing a stroker crank in it. Any thoughts?

It's worth it if you have to rebuild the engine anyway. If you have a well running 350 and you are just thinking about the extra cubes...probably not worth it. To maximize the 383, you would need a different cam and ported/different heads.

The engine is out of the car waiting to be dropped in. I'm going to pull the heads and get some flow numbers over the winter. I'm thinking this might be a good time to do it. Clearancing the block should be pretty self explanatory I'm guessing

I built a 383 stroker that i dropped into my 86 Silverado. Tons of power and sounds mean. I tell people its a "warmed-up 350". I would recommend bringing the block to a reputable machine shop for clearancing. It doesn't take much, but too much in the wrong spot would be bad. I have compiled a build sheet on my stroker with part numbers for reference. I did not put it on the dyno, but the guy i had machine the block has built roughly 30 of them with the same configuration and says 450-475hp all day.

Def a nice upgrade if its time for a rebuild. You can pick up an easy 30+HP/50+TQ with the extra cubes and stroke. Scat offers some pretty budget rotating assemblies now as well that can come balanced.

You can do a nice block for about 3 grand that can take some serious power.I just did one for my turbo build. Purchased a forged scat crank & rods with forged 2618 wiseco piston as a kit molly rings balancer all balanced from skip white. 1300 or 1400 shipped. Dont remember.
You can get 4 bolt main machined block from summit 800$ shipped already clearance for a 383 .
