Default sbc to fuel inj conversion

hey guys, im going to be getting a k5 blazer with a carb 350, basically my winter truck with a plow, im not a fan of carbs at all, i am wondering would be be easier to convert this into a TPI 350 or a LT1, i will probably do minor mods with it, not looking for a big horse engine, but i am looking for some sort of good drivability, any comments/suggestions greatly appreciated
THANKS

its acutally quite easy to change to efi. go on thirdgen.org, u can get tpi systems pritty cheap. im personally doin a holley stealth ram MAF setup. injection will help emmencely with cold starts and mileage, u will be happy with it.

it would be by far easier to go to the TPI set-up...you could even go with a cheap digital fuel injection or something like a holley kit with a throttle body..Good luck to ya,should be too bad..

you also need an o2 sensor, coolant temp sensor, if you dont go speed density you need a MAF sensor, IAT sensor, VSS. if you want to use a factory ecm you want a compatible distributor so your timing is handled
it sounds like alot but its not too bad

I personally would go TPI and stick with it since you are installing it in a truck.
Stealthram will lose some torque since it is designed for more RPM.
I installed the Stealthram on my car a month ago and noticed a big loss in low end torque but since I have a car I want that upper RPM power band, TPI chokes at 4500rpm, Stealthram breathes to 5500+.

The sensors you choose will be determined by the year of the TPI setup you go with,
85 is the year you don't want.
86-89 is MAF, 85-88 have a9th injector known as the Cold Start injector and there is a sensor on the front of the intake manifold that controls it, it is the Cold Start Switch.
You can run an 89 Prom file in the 86-88 to eliminate the Cold Start circuit
Late 88 to 92 have VATS, so you will need to have VATS programmed out of the chip for the car to start.
90-92 is Speed Density aka MAP. 90-92 uses a different knock sensor than the 86-89.
90-92 doesn'tt use a separate ESC module.

If you have all the parts at the time of install, you can do the entire swap in less than 10 hours, this includes removing the carb setup, installing an inline external fuel pump, modding the fuel lines at the engine bay, doing the wiring, etc...
This is how long it took me to install my old TPI setup on a friends carbed Iroc a few years back.

this is what my swap looked like on my old 86 Trans Am,
before,

after,

i love my tpi........but i don't have to worry about it choking at 4500 rpm,i have larger slp runners a bbk twin 58 mm t/b and a custom burned chip....and i have hooker super comps...........as soon as i get my new tires for the rear i will post some et's from the track, right now it isn't worth talking about.............at least i can say i can do a great burnout for show.....lol
