Default 572 Big Block! ! !

how much fabrication in the front suspension would be necessary to squeeze this block with headers into the Camaro? Obviously beefier suspension would be required due to the weight, but wouldn't the a-arms have to be custom? Thanks

i would think only slightly stiffer springs would be required.an aluminum headed big block is around 200 -250 lbs heavier.

Coilovers with out a doubt. BMR makes a K-member already bossed for a SBC or BBC, so that is another thing you are going to have to install. Also you are looking at at least front and mid motor plates if the motor is making a large amounts of power. To many other things to consider to get into in a quick reply...

Who is building the motor?

Do you need to disable the Air because the head interfers, or does everybody disable the air because it uses to much horsepower.

Thanks for you help.

Uhh, because there is no way physically possible to install a big block in a stock chassis'd 4th Gen F-body with the air conditioner in it... at least not that I can find.

Sorry to be stupid, but what part of the air interfers with what part of the car? Is there an issue with the compressor? Is there an issue with the condensor? Is there an issue with the heater/air box at the firewall?

Thanks in advance for the information. Just trying to figure out if I should sell the 95, and change cars.

Do you think a unit from vintage air will work? Do you think you could have moved the heater/air box over some? Do you think it would clear with stock valve covers (or were you using stock low profile covers)

Again, thanks for the help.

I don't see how it can be easily moved without modifying the firewall... Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Thank you for all the help. The k-member and headers will be a great start (as I had to fab them for the Cherokee). By the way, the air works on the Cherokee, and the engine bay is smaller.

What headers did you end up using? Totally custom fabricated or something along the lines of the Hooker 2455's that someone mentioned in another thread?

I have plenty more questions for you as well...

Made my own headers... needed a really tight fit and i was afraid the hookers would be more work then just making custom ones.. but others have been ok with the hookers with some tube work on the driver side....

Just out of curiosity as well... did you go with a BMR K-member that was already setup for a BBC? And if so, what pan did you use? I'm trying to mock up a BBC, but I need to know what pan will fit.

I used an AJE front end.. I have a dry sump pan but atleast with the AJE you can run any pan and I dont see a problem or how it would interfear

Never even seen that one before. Do you feel that piece has any benefit (mostly for clearance) than the BMR K-member?

I have no idea, I have never had a BMR one. All I can say is the AJE works great and fit like a charm
