454 BBC question

454 BBC question
Can you get at least 500CI out of a 454 I know you can get to a 496CI engine.
Any estimates on a mild but built motor's HP would be appreciated as well. I was not pleased with the 388 nor the 383 so far in my chevelle and I am seriously thinking about going BBC.

All I would want is to run a 10 sec run on motor and ET streets, 12 bolt 373 gears and I would like to be able to take it on a 45 minute drive to the beach from time to time.

I think you can get to just over 500", like 502 or 508 using a 4.350" bore (max. size for stock block) and 4.25" crank. The 496 is a .060 over (4.310" bore) 4.25 stroke, 6.385 rod.
Keep in mind the added cubes are going to do you no good if you don't invest some money in good heads....and with *really good* heads, you won't even need the extra cubes to achieve your goals.

as 1fastws6 allready stated good heads is the key but 496 assemblys are reasonably priced these days so i'd go with a 496,maybe the 345 prov1s or similar in aluminum and around 10.5 cr with a decent sized solid roller setup with around .700 lift for an easy 650-700 hp.

The largest I've seen is right at 548ci from a bored and stroked 454 and still streetable. If you go full race then you could probably bore and stroke it a bit more but it wouldn't be too streetable.

-some gm 781 iron oval heads with bigger valves and some bowl blending
-Mild solid roller cam something with about 250* with .660" lift and a few more on the exhaust.
-Vic jr intake
-850 carb
-3500 stall
There is a guy on chevellesforums with a combo similar to this runnig low 11's high tens. I wouldnt go a head and bore the block out all the way, save some meat if a rebuild is ever needed. Any heads with more than 315cc is way to big you will suprised what a well done set of oval port heads will do on a heavy chevelle.

I know this is days late and dollars short but WTF were you when I was selling ONE BADDDDD AZZZ 496 BBC for 6 K had scat crank eagle rods jessel belt drive merlin alum heads and MUCH MUCH more incl victor intake and dominator carb i had 13 k in it
