Mid plate w/Motor plate?
Hello everyone.I decided to go w/a motor plate instead of the bmr mounts that I had. I got a plate from madman and oredered an engine limiter from summit.I really don't want the hassle of fooling with a mid plate if I don't have to. I have a poly mount on my th-400 w/bmr crossmember. My question is will I still need the mid plate or can I just use the limiter along with the plate? Also would I be better off w/a solid tranny mount?

Yes,
On my cars that I run a motor plate I have a mid plate and the solid tranny mount. Oh, limiters are installed also. If you don't run it this way you risk the chance of cracking the trans. housing. Sometimes it's a hassle to build a car right but it prevents those nasty issues that happen at the wrong time.
Oh, and I just realized you'll be running that tall deck BBC. Man you better brace everything in that car cus if that monster happens to get some traction, is going to want to twist that car like a prestile!!!!
BTW, you may need to consider backhalfing that car. If not I see traction problems in your future.....

I am planning a TD BBC also for my 95 Camaro. Should be fun, I hope. My car supposedly had a BB in it . Brackets are there for a mid plate with stand off motor mounts on the modified factory K-member. Anyways, I would not recommend a solid trans mount unless the motor is completely/solidly mounted in a very rigid chassis. The cases tend to break. Is there an advantage to a solid trans mount?
BTW, nice site. I've been poking around for the BBC swap posts.

Anybody have any pics of a mid-plate installed in a 4th gen? BTW, I do plan on stiffening up the car a lot more (just 8pt and sfc's now).I plan to get the wolfe front half for the cage and run bars from there through the strut towers. Also the car has ran 10.0's @133 w/a 1.35 60ft w/the old lt1 383 and 250 shot of n2o.I'm hopeing to try to dial it in w/the 28x10.5's non w's that were on it before. I know I'm going to need to minni tub it,but I want to wait till I replace the 12 bolt w/a narrowed 9"

I would reccommand a midplate I have a kit that runs $150.00. It does require some fab work to get clearance for headers. A good stock style suspension will hook that BBC up anywhere. I have 3 of these cars running around on drag radials that will hook on a ice skating rink.
