Default I need some 454 help.

I've been looking all over the net for the HP/TQ specs of a 454 from a 1978 1 ton truck and can't find a thing. Anyone know these numbers? Also, what would be a good combination of parts to make 450RWHP N/A out of this engine? Any help at all is greatly appreciated because I'm clueless..

I think it was 240 hp CR was 7.9:1

You need to get better heads the ones in there for TQ, find the ones with

big intake port, may be mid and early 70s .

It's easy to get 450rwhp from a 454bb. Like aboadnan said, heads would be one of the first things I'd do, then cam, lifters, pushrods, intake and carb. I wouldn't mess with the bottom end unless their is something wrong with it or if your on a budget but it would help too. If your not on a budget then I'd redo the bottom end and bore it a bit. You need to get more air and fuel in the chambers and more compression.

for your heads , you should be able to use a set of 781 big port big valve heads. I have a set that are like new and just replaced them with aftermarket heads. They worked great had a rv cam 781 heads 10-1 comp, mated to a muncie m-20 4 spd with a 342 posi 12 bolt in my 70 chevelle and ran 12.50 on street tires.
good luck with your build.
