Default 92 Tbi

Brother has 92 TBI and is looking to go with heads cam intake and headers. I am not familiar with the TBI motor and need advice. Thanks in advance.

Depending on how much he wants to spend a set of iron vortec heads and a gmpp intake or a set of gm fastburn aluminum heads. I have the iron vortec and the gmpp intake and a lt4 cam and 1.6's with headers and a chip in a 93 chevy pu of mine and it was a day and nite difference and it did not hurt the wallet too bad and the fuel milage is great. It's the same stuff just a different car./

So the TBI didn't really hold you back. I have been told if I do heads, cam intake and headers to his car I would be lucky to pick up 30 horse?? I do not want to waste his money if this were true.

There are companies that make bigger tbi throttle bodies. I'm pretty sure e-brock makes one,but they are year specific. Howell might be able to help you out. And I remember this company,it think their name was turbocity, not sure tho. But there are better tbi units out there.

I would do a set of vortec heads, cam(208/214) range, edelbrock manifold, LT headers(Hedman/Hooker), and swap in a AFPR/cop car injectors or flow matched injectors/ and a custom chip.

CHP did a 305 TBI build up and made like 255 rwhp. With those mods I listed, you will gain about 50hp and a lot of torque.

He'll go from about 210hp to about 280hp at the fly. TBI to Vortec heads is about 30hp right there.

Nother vote for vortec heads.U can go with like .480 lift cam and find drop in springs. What is it going in car or truck? The vortec heads love the Comp XE cams.My finding is that the tuning the ecu is the hard part its not really the intake and TB itself its geting the ECU to respound to the mods.

I would definatly go for the vortec heads and the GMMP intake, Also look on ebay for a company called ExtremeFI I bought a TBI unit from them and it is a factory GM unit bored to 50mm. It is a great piece and if you don't want to spend the money on the gmmp intake they offer a factory intake that is bored to 50mm also. It also comes with an adjustable Fuel pressure regulator.
