lets discuss future motor
ok so some background iam building a 71 datsun 510 drag car. the reson iam here is because i have a sbc 350 long block mounted under the hood right now. cage is about 3/4 done back is getting totally redone keeping it indapendant blah blah you get the picture should weigh about 1800 lbs or so and be street legal still very far from being done working on the rear lower controll arms, nuckles, and rear brakes right now. but wanna start planning my motor. i want to do probably a 383 with n2o. want to have good power off the n2o but want it to be able to handle a 2 stage set up with maybe a 350hp shot total. will have a stand alnone fuel system or the n20 hits. this is about a 80% drag car maybe 20% street and want to keep it as low budget as i can (because iam only 19 and live on my own and money is tight) but also have good parts that get me to my goals. would like 4-500 on motor 6-700 with the n20. this will be my first engine build well first v8 build and just want to start discussing and planning.

Well, how cheap tou trying to go? I have 1000 in my motor in my camaro due to a tigh budget and waiting on deals. A stroker kit from scat would be optimal, it is less than a eagle kit and just as strong. They sell IK200 from brodix for 1000$, summit was selling them for 850$ witht he summit logo on them, but they wer IK200s. Ported out those would work great. I am going to build my 408 on Ebay, i found rods for 300$, a crank for 300$ and i srill need to find pistons, then ill have a short block. I found a set of dart pro 1 used for 800$ so i am not going al new, i cannot afford it.

those dart pro ones are good huh 800 doesnt seem bad for for dart heads. so scat is the way to go for crank and rods? what about pistons? what are you looking for? looking for maybe 12 to1 compression so i need a domed piston right? oh man what about cam solid roller?

Well, you and i are in a different ball game, you say 80 track and 20 street, i am looking for 20 track and 80% street.
You can get the entire scat rotating assy. with 12 to 1 if you wanna dish out the dukkets for race fuel, i am going 11 to 1 and will be on 93 octane.
I am thinking about a solid roller for me on the street, but you i say hell yea, something about 250/256 @.050 with 640 lift on a 108 LSA. Maybe a little more if you are more track serious.
Keep researching what you are looking for and what fits your budget, takes me a while due to making 30K a year.
A super victor intake might be a good manifold for you, topped with a 850 carb of your choice if you are looking for 7000 rpm.
