Default 632 BBC input

Thinking of building up a 632 for my next boat project. Probably going to use a Dart Big M block with steel splayed bolt main caps, JE forged pistons (8.5:1ish CR) with Total Seal gapless rings and a Callies 4340 forged steel crankshaft and Manley 4340 forged H beam rods. Any head recommendations?
I have always wanted a blower motor. Found a BDS 8-71 with tall deck manifold. What would be a good cam to go with for decent drivablility? I'm not wanting an all-out race engine that I can't drive around the lake.

But I've been tossing around the idea of a N/A n2o motor as well, maybe 10 or 10.5:1 CR with up to a 400 shot. Any suggestions for either build-up?

Why do you need a 632" if you want a mild crusier. Plus a 8-71 might not be the right size. A small blower like that on a 509" would be a ton of power. Blower motor will be more reliable & consistant than something with a big shot like you mentioned. Even a 540" would be a handful. Any stock angle, aftermarket heads will work good, I would probably go by what the best deal you can find. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed, I would stay in the 5XX range with a smaller blower maybe.

Lots of BBC boaters with 502's and I am sure a few with 572's.

Not wanting a mild cruiser, but a race motor that I would still be able to drive and not just sit in the cove until time to race. Most of the big boys around here have atleast 555s, several have 632s. I want to be able to hang with the majority of them and still be able to drive around the lake if I wanted to. If I'm going to build one I want atleast 600".

The blown 502s are only about as fast as half the boats that run at our lake. Takes alot more than that to have bragging rights, and if I'm gonna shell out the $ to build one, might as well go big.

Just might throw a single dominator on one and a big plate kit or fogger. Still just testing the waters, but I've decided it'll be 600+ CI.

Make sure you get some expert help with that combination. Like I mentioned, that blower is very small for a 632". I have many friends with blowers & anything over 500" have a 12 or 14-71. If you're trying to hang with some big dogs, you have to bring the right stick to the fight. Just trying to help, injected or dual dominators at a minimum for a 632" blown motor. I would hate to see you get into something & waste a ton of money doing stuff twice. Check out Jim Oddy, he is a blower motor genius. Fowler is also big time expert on blower motors. You will learn alot more from them, then us yahoo's on a web site. Good luck.

Well in that case it will be hard to run with the big dogs but still be able to putt around, hard but can be done.

Why not a turbo motor and keep it on low boost until you want to play? LOTS of big power turbo motors with lots of manners on low boost. Has a cool factor also.

I think I've decided that if it's going to be a blower motor, I'll stick with around a 500" motor. From what an engine builder here in Tx says, he's making more power with a 10-71 than most guys with a bigger motor and a 14-71, plus not having to run offset distributors. Or he said we could build a 632 and put a ~600hp shot of n2o on it for good measure. Turbos would be cool, but I would have to have somebody fabricate the plenum housing to mount the intercooler and exhaust manifolds, and tune the EFI.

A while back we were talking about a TT 454, figured with the cold lake water we could run more boost. My buddy building a TT 383 3rd Gen. said we could get an easy 1500hp that way. Would have to use some 160# injectors and maybe a water/meth injection at times.

Something similar to this, but with the turbo centered over the valve covers and the inlets forward/outlets rearward and clocking the turbos to where the charged air is aimed directly into the TBs instead of all the piping used in this setup

He could have made it alot simpler. Turned the turbos 90* and just clamped K&Ns on the front of the turbos. I'm budgeting around $15,000 for the engine build, but less wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit (or my wifes).

Well that's different. Now that we know your budget, you're pretty much screwed.
I seriously doubt you can do a turbo or blower 632" for that.
The N/A 557" BBC for my slow car cost more than that.
If you could do it for that, I wouldn't stand near it when you hit it.

Yea a little more than $15k. $19,150 for a blown 632. For under $15K I can lose the blower and go N/A and spend around $1k on nitrous. But if I'm going the blower route I'm sticking around 500". That way I can run a 10-71.

What kind of boat? At my local lake a guy has a 632ci in a 23 Velocity. Mid 90's GPS boat as long as he can control it. Sounds amazing! Makes my mid 70's GPS 385ci Challenger look slow.

I have a 632 gene fulton motor in the vette in my avatar,he could tell ya alot bout running a 632,he has built a bunch of them over the yrs,but for a motor like mine new from him right now is high,so get ready to spend some dough!! But goodluck with the build up etc!
