Question Please Help me

Can someone please tell me exactly what i need in order for a lt1 t56 to mate up to my gen 1 sbc. (phisically bolting it up and the clutch and everything working as is should, thrust bearing, ect.)

I know that i have to get a driveshaft made, and that ill have to make my own hydraulic clutch setup. (or is it possible to use a cable?)

Thank you very much.

I think you've pretty well got it covered......an the LT1 block is for all intensive purposes the same as the gen 1 sbc and your trans should bolt right up.

The lt1 t56's hydraulics will work just fine. You will need to fabricate a mount on your clutch petal for the rod and cut a hole in your firewall to mount the hydraulics. If your sbc is a 2 piece rear main you will have to get a different flywheel. Mine was 2 pc main and im using a centerforce flywheel (jegs part number 183-700173). Fidanza also makes one but its aluminum if you want to go that route. Its jegs p.n. 383-198661. Oh, and dont forget the pilot bearing.

153 tooth ring gear vs. 168 tooth (Gen1)
Also the thickness of the flywheel is different than that of the gen 1.

1 piece rear main engines have a 3" bolt circle (as I remember) where the flywheel bolts to the rear of the crank, the 2 piece versions have a 3.58" bolt circle. Also, a 1 piece rear main crankshaft requires a flywheel with a counterweight on it to balance the engine and make up for the weight (that square flange on one side) that's been removed from the crank flange.

I have a 1992 Z28 with an SBC and a T56.
