flat tappet or roller cam? im asking cause the same thing happened to me and i had cam/ lifter failure...... hope you dont have the same problem! my engine is now back out and have to go through the engine and clean out all the metal powder paste that formed...... no big deal other than time and price of a new cam and lifters..... engine parts are fine, they just need to be cleaned out before its ran again

Are you gas fouling the plugs or oil fouling them?.....I assume gas fouling. What do you have for a carb? Have you tuned it at all?

Have you tuned the carb at all or is it still set to factory adjustment? I've got the same carb on my 383, you'll need to do some tuning....a motor like that will not run right with an out of the box carb. Get yourself a calibration kit and read the manual, that'll get you going in the right direction.

I had a similar problem with a 355 I had. It seemed to foul 4 plugs more than the others. No popping or sounding like a Harley, actually it ran fine. Turned out to be a wrong powervalve in the carb. I had a 8.5PV and it would idle 9-10" idle and the powervalve was opening at basically anything above idle.

Sounds like you've got your plug wires all crossed up.

power valve, wires crossed, carb problems, it could be any of these man....... just look at the wires first and make sure they are in order and then go down the list

Try a set of cheap AC Delco plugs one heat range colder than what stock 350 calls for. It's worked for me on a 355 build. Couldn't believe my fancy platinums caused a problem. It may be the cheap fix.

i had a similar problem..make sure your ignition system can give enough spark to the plugs. we had high spark plugs but the ignition system was weak..a set of cold plugs fixed our problem.
