Default Large Cube LSX vs BBC

On LS motors, how much of an advantage is there to having distributorless ignition over a regular motor with a distributor? Would a 454 LSX have similar power to say a 540 BBC if they were both set up with EFI and decent heads/cam, etc..?

There are guys on street motors pushing over 1,000rwhp on a healthy shot with 540's.

Pretty easy to get 700-800hp range all motor on a street motor 540.

A lot of guys making big power on LS engine have a belt driven distributor. Not all but a lot. Easier to trouble shoot ignition issues if you ask me.

You can get similar power out of each, just depends on what you want to do and how far you want to go.

Well, a big block has HUGE head flow but the LSx design has WAY better technology, when the aftermarket gets involved it is all pretty much the same, more cubes means more power.

As far as making power, the big block reigns supreme.

The distributor on our big cube BBC's is only used to direct the fire....a crank trigger is more stable at high RPM's and thats what we use. And yes, although the LSX is superior technology all around the big cube BBC's still reigh supreme. We make 1,000 HP on our 565's on Alky.

Is there a way to have a BBC with a distributorless ignition?
