Default sbc in a 4th gen no computer will the vats still work?

I took out the computer out of my car when I put in the new engine. Last time I left the computer in it and it started right up(gen 1 sbc) Now that theres no computer it wont turn over and the fuel pump isnt turning on either. Is this the vats not letting it start b/c of no computer?

Is there a way to still use the key to start it up and bypassing the vats?

I triedand but didnt really come up with anything like this.

Sounds like VATS, my last car did that when the cage got intalled and they forgot about the VATS and I pluged in the wiring and the car started.

There is a way to bypass it, its a bit of a pain, might search camaroz28.com, I think thats were I saw it.

If its carbed I am sure you could pull the VATS system all together and not worry about it but I would search camaroz, remember seeing some stuff on it there.

VATS has its own module below your steering column. Check the resistance on your key using a mulitmeter. Place a terminal on each side of the key's chip. Once you have the resistance go buy a resistor with the same resistance and splice it into the wires running to your vats module (small black box). I have a diagram i can post when i get home from work. Its really easy to do. I dont think your PCM would have anything to do with the VATS, but i could be wrong. Mine didnt.

Will these diagrams apply to the 3rd gen camaro as well? I ditched the OEM computer for a Holley Comander 950 Pro and have not yet fired the motor in the car. Might run into this problem as well.

Thanks for the help but it turned out to be a low battery. Looking under the dash it looks like the previous owner already bypassed it.
