Default 305/350

I have a 1990 gmc that had a 5.7tbi motor in it. which is now on a stand but theres a 5.0 305 in it now. I just wanted to know what the 305 came out of anybody know how to trace the numbers on the block to the donator car. I don't what numbers i need to look for on my block

If it has center bolt valve cover on it it came from ither a truck, half ton. Or a camaro 87-92. So there is nothing spectacular ither way. Now, if it is a vortec it is better than the old TBI stuff but i doubt it is unless somone spent 270$+ for an intake.

Casting numbers will be on the left rear of the block where the bellhousing bolts up, that is the driver side of the block. Find the numbers and then go here http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm to look them up.
