Default 350 stroked to 383 help and input

ok 1st off, this is going to seem odd but this engine is going into a 1995 nissan 240sx. with a 700r4 auto trans built also.

i got both the 350 and 700r4 for $70 from 2 of my friend, motor is in running order out of a 1978 dumptruck. would like to get most of it without any kind of induction so 383 seemed like a good idea, now im not rich by any means so lets just say im on a budget.

super chevy i saw they did a stroker article using enginekits.com kit that is $500. what do you all think of this kit? and can i get away with using the stock heads, they have the bolts down the center of the head and im told these are better flowing then others? also, what kinda of carb and intake setup would you recommend? what kind of ignition setup and anything els you might want to add?

um, its late so if any of that sounded dumb im sorry haha

well first what are your power goals? I had a 383 its a good motor made goobs of torque.
But you still have to keep machine cost in mind to such as boring and clearincing the block. as for stock heads i wouldnt use them YOu can get vortech heads for lik 400$ you will just need a vortech intake which it lik 130 from profesinal products.
If your are realt on a budget i would bore it .030 over and get a set of bad *** heads. IN super chey a year or so ago they made like 550 hp with a rebuilt 355 nd afr heads. Hope tht helps feel free to PM me.

Nothing odd about a strong motor and a light car. That is a future project i would like to do. What does your budget look like?

there is no set amount on what i can spend... was going to be doing it in steps, building the engine and tranny over winter - pass e-check so im good for another 2 years and then swap it all in.

power goal wise.... it wont take much for me to run a 12sec pass, car is only at 2800lbs with full tank.... and i can still remove some weight if i wanted too haha.... so im thinking around 400hp give or take would get me to the 11sec area. if its 355 can do it, then im down for that... just need something with a little more kick in the *** haha.

not bad personaly i would go with AFR heads just beacause of the fact i belive they are thee badest heads out. But trick flow ake great heads aswell.
The eagle assembly looks stout enought for 11 sec passes.

At that weight you can go deep in the 11s with a 355 ci motor and as stated the AFR 195 eleminator heads kick a-- . And your pics of the car converted why did he use a dry sump oil system no room for a wet sump pan? But I do dig the race pack dash.

reason for the dry sump is the rear sump on a wet sump will be in the way of the steering rack.... only what to swap is use a GTO pan and modify it a little bit since its a front sump pan. that will the route i am going to take... thanks for the help all.

Have you considered a LS1 swap? It would end up costing less in the long run, but you would have to learn about tuning instead of engine building.
