Default TPI on 383

Yesterday I met with my friend and he want to sell his 383 engine he told me if you want the engine i will give you TPI base intake for vortec heads here is his set up :
383ci 5.7" rods
11:1 CR
Edelbrock E-tec vortec 200 aluminum heads
LT4 hot cam(I think the cam is too small )
1.6 RR
Edelbrock performer RPM air gap
Holley Street avenger 670cfm
MSD pro billet distributor
Holley mechanical fuel pump

that's all I can remember for now Im taking this engine for sure and I will swap the TPI intake manifold from my 92 Z28 on this engine with the intake base that he will give me but can I use my stock runners or do I need the ones for vortec base intake? My Z28 got LT headers,3.73,700R4 with shift kit after I swap the engine I will make the exhaust true dual so what do you think of that engine set up? when I do the swap whats the 1/4 time you guess?

I don't think you can use the stock runners on that base.

That setup looks to be about 400hp, it should make quite a bit of torque if you stay TPI (but honestly you really need a superram or a turtle ram) I'm thinking high 12's in the quarter, probably some mid to low 12's with traction.

I will run it TPI for a while then get back to carb with bigger cam and carb or bigger cam, carb and intake manifold but low 13's? thats just pathetic I was thinking of mid 12 with better cam and carb the heads are good right? I might port them and port match with the intake

The E-Tec heads arent as great as Edelbrock makes them out to be. They fine but they're not good. My dad went 12.80 @ 107 with those heads and SLP runners in his '90 Trans Am, at 3000' density altitude.

You could use stock runners with a Vortec TPI base but you'll severely limit your power above 4500 rpms. A 383 with a long runner TPI is a bad idea in my opinion, because the TPI already gives you awesome torque, and the 383 just multiplies that. You'll have a car that will roast the tires from idle to 4000 rpms, and then fall flat. What you really want on a 383 is the Holley Stealth Ram. Short intake runners plus 383 torque is a much better combo.

Oh yeah...Any Vortec style intake has Vortec size ports. Unfortunately...the E-Tec 200 heads have a MUCH larger intake port than ANY intake avaliable that bolts up to it. No clue why Edelbrock didn't think this one through. Just to port match my RPM air gap to the head was a lot of work. Ordering the Super Victor Vortec was no better. It still comes with tiny cross section ports that would need severe work to match the cross section of the E-Tec 200 port.
