Choosing Cam for 383

Choosing Cam for 383
I bought a 383 roller engine with 11:1 CR,Edelbrock E-tec 200 heads,LT4 hot cam,1.6 RR,Edelbrock performer RPM air gap and 670cfm Avenger the cam is too small for 383 and 11 CR so I was thinking of EDL-2204 and 750cfm mechanical carb is that good or I need larger cam? my guess is 234/238 with 112lsa is enough for 383 what do you suggest?

Is this a race car, or a street car? Why do you want to take a perfectly good TPI car and hack it up into a carb car? If your goal is all-out horsepower, then you can start with a carb car and modify that. Save the TPI car for someone who wants TPI.
We here in SoCal have over a half-dozen daily driver TPI 350's that make 350+ RWHP, get 25 MPG on the highway, run 12 second ET's, and pass CA's tough smog check. Its not as tough as it used to be to make a TPI fast.

HAHAHAH "TPI is useless in my country" Awesome car quote... Sorry Kev...I'll do my carb shpiel now. If you want a carb that is perfect out of the box, buy one from Pro System. http://www.pro-system.com/ They still show to be $590. Well worth the cost considering an out of the box Holley HP carb from Jeg's is $670 AND It's not even set up for your engine. Customer service is second to none from what racers tell me. Mine has been perfect from day one. It drives like EFI and has great Air/Fuel numbers shown by my wideband setup. Patrick at Pro System will set you up with exactly what you need.
That Edelbrock roller cam sounds good for a 11:1 383 with that intake, just be sure that the valve springs can support the lift that the cam has. It sounds like a good running combo. If this is an automatic trans car, it will appreciate a 3000-3500 stall converter from a reputable builder like Yank, PTC, P.I., etc...Goodluck!

the springs can handle to .575" lift I will use 1.5 rockers instead of the one it already got 1.6 from GM but I have a question : does torque converter from 4L60E will fit 700R4? and how many horses and torque you guess from that combo?

Well my 11:1 396 sbc has a 254/260 duration .620" lift cam, Pro-Systems 780cfm carb and it has a VERY snappy throttle response. It's all in the carb tuning.
242/248 will work also but when going more aggressive with the camshaft like this, you'd want to change to a single plane intake manifold like a Vic Jr. Higher rpm power will be made with a loss of torque below 3500rpm.
I think your Air Gap intake, 234/238 cam, 11:1, 383 will be a great driving combo. I think it could make 450hp with a pro system 780 carb. CLoser to 500hp if you did the 242/248 cam with a single plane super victor intake. It will be rougher idling, and not as smooth to drive however. Goodluck!

The best thing you can do for yourself is to call a cam design professional and let them select a camshaft for you. They understand the science better than 99% of us (certainly me included) and you'll end up with a better running vehicle. You'll need a well documented engine for the best results no matter who does the selection, unless you're happy with rolling the dice.

The engine now sits at my garage I opened the carb and I noticed the previous stupid owner was running the engine on 2 barrel instead of 4 barrel he didnt connect the vacuums even the distributor vacuum wasnt connected also,I noticed another thing he used guide plates while the rockers were self aligning !! I dont know if it will work fine or not but the rockers were tight as hell

Your combo needs this cam or the next one up in size the 60105LK might be better due to your engine being a 383.

I had a custom cam ground for my 385ci. It's in my boat and is perfectly matched to my combo. Go for a custom grind from a cam designer for sure.
Mine is a 234/240 .580/.568 112+4 matched to my AFR heads it rocks. Peaks at 57-800rpms. Something along its specs would make a great driver setup that would work well with your current parts.
