Default More of a tranny question for the sbc

Ok this has more to do with the tranny, but it's for a sbc so I figured I would put in here. I heard the 4.3 votec 5-speeds will bolt up to a small block. Has anyone done this and how much abuse can they handle?

they bolt up the same and you can use everthing as is. but they are not the strongest, so i wouldn't rag on it too hard.

You think I can get it to be built to be stronger, cause I found one on craigslist for $100.

i don't know about aftermarket parts for them to beef them up. i would personally go with an automatic th350/400 cause you won't outshift a good built auto. if you really want something fun, you should look into a auto with a manual clutch. the tranny has be converted over to use a clutch but then you can decide where to launch instead of with stall that leaves the same everytime.

rockland standard gear had an add in gmhitech magazine this month on their tranzilla t-56.
their website is cool with a lot of tech articles, and they do a lot of other trans builds other than the t56. rsgear.com i would check there and with other trans shops listed on the sponsor list on the right side of this webpage.

What about the T-5's from the fox-bodys, what about them? I heard they would fit too.

it would work with the correct bellhousing, and possibly other modifications needed.
