Default Is Steele Worth the Drive?

Every street night at atl dragway was rained out since I got my build roadworthy. Looks like we will have nice weather Sunday and Steele looks to be the only track still open. It looks to be about a 2.5 hr drive (gwinnett, ga) but I am really eager to run the car. A friend of mine will be bringing his boosted 05 gto as well. Just curious if the track is worth the drive?

If it was like it was last Sunday, you'll be able to make as many passes as you want. $10 to get in and an additional $10 to race. Weather looks good so far too.

Steele is a good track. I will be at www.mmpdragracing.com this Sunday with a buddy. They are open from 11am to 5pm. Its nicer than Steele and is usually never crowded either. Only thing better about Steele is that its faster than MMP for whatever reason. Matter of fact, its faster than SDR as well.

I was thinking of going to Darlington, SC but after looking at the weather in Ashville, NC for Friday I not sure if I want to drive through there at 7:00 AM on Saturday.

How is the shut down area? I understand the starting line is usually setup pretty good is this true? Normally around 1.44 60 foot NA for me and hoping the track prep is good on their TNT!

It shows on their website they are open Saturday and Sunday from 12 to dark!

The shut down area is ok. The return road is kinda bumpy but it's all paved. If you are on anything but street tires the starting line is usually prepped decent because they'll move the barrel and let you in the groove. Some dumb kids that run through the water box on street tires is why everyone with street tires has to run 'beside the barrel', basically out of the groove. Last weekend Dad kept spinning for at least the first 4 passes (13s, 14s, 15s) and then oddly enough he finally started hooking and ran his 12.4s.

Most say they get faster times at Steele, we don't. We get faster times at MMP (Montgomery Motorsports Park) but I do the tree better at Steele.

I'm planning on showing up in my Pewter SS. I haven't got the interior back in from some weight reduction, but I haven't ran my car with the new converter in the 1/4 yet.

It's probably too late for yall to see this but the only thing they are really strict about is safety belts (wanting you to wear them) and if you run under 8.0 in the 1/8th you gotta have a helmet.
