Rumor: NHRA-sanctioned 1/4-mile track in Hot Springs, AR? Can anyone confirm or deny this? The gentleman who mentioned it said it was already built and just going through safety requirements now. He's a racer and was pretty excited about it. Kickass if it's true....

A quick search on google turned up some info that a man was attempting to build a track but was waiting on signatures authorizing him to begin construction. The story was posted 5 May of this year. He was also going to build a 1/4-mile oval dirt track and a BMX track. Anyone have any other information?

That would be an awesome 30 minute drive. Not to rain on the parade though, but I don't see it happening. The old Benton airport was a contender for a while, and had a TON of support but got the boot real quick.

Don't get caught not knowing about it if you have buddies that are track-minded. It's a classic track, though it's **** now.
They also thought about turning the Barton fairgrounds in NLR into a drag strip, but in all honesty, I don't think it'll ever happen.
